    Avengers #192 Feb 1980
    "Steel City Nightmare"
Tony Stark has gone to Pittsburgh to investigate a steel plant he is considering buying.
Since the plant was formerly owned by Simon Williams, he has invited Wonder Man to join him as his guest.
Tony is curious as to why the mill owner, Vince Paretta, is so anxious to sell it, given that it is a prosperous business.

An accident almost occurs. One of the crucibles begins spilling, threatening several workers.
Tony wants to sneak away and change into his armor but Wonder Man has to hit a shut-down switch right away
and grabs Tony’s briefcase to throw at it, unaware that it is where Tony keeps his armor.
Fortunately, though, Wonder Man manages to shut down the plant before a catastrophe takes place.

In the aftermath, the plant workers talk about the excitement.
One worker, Joe Conroy, reminisces that Thor once used the plant to patch up his damaged hammer, Mjolnir.
The worker reveals that Thor left behind a small fragment of Uru metal, which the worker fashioned into a keychain.

But it becomes apparent that another worker, Tim Turpin, bears some sort of grudge against him.
His co-worker utters a veiled threat to him.

Sometime later, Turpin knocks Conroy off a catwalk, into a crucible full of molten lead below.
Turpin’s colleagues cover for him, claiming Joe lost his balance and fell in. He is assumed to be dead.

At Avengers mansion, a visitor tries gaining access by using… a MasterCard?? The security coils truss him up.
When he’s questioned, he says he was trying to get the Avengers to solve a noise complaint!
Gyrich angrily dismisses the man, but admits he is satisfied with the mansion’s security protocols finally and departs.

Having been emancipated from Gyrich's total control, the Avengers under Captain America’s leadership
try to bring back a few expulsed members back to active duty. Hoping to mend fences, Falcon offers to call Hawkeye,
but the archer’s phone has been disconnected. Jan calls up Hank, who claims to be enjoying the opportunity to do
pure research and doesn’t want to be a full-time Avenger just now. Beast then suggests they bring back Wonder Man,
which everyone agrees to. Meanwhile, Wanda says goodbye to the Vision and takes her leave for the time being.

Back in Pittsburgh, the steel mill makes a metal slab as a memorial of the fallen employee.
But the memorial slab suddenly bursts open to reveal… Inferno!

Wonder Man and Iron Man now that Tony has retrieved his armor
try to take down the fiery behemoth, but it proves to be a strong adversary.

Back at the mansion, Jarvis and Ms. Marvel are on monitor duty and receive an alert signal from Wonder Man.

While Ms. Marvel is informing Cap of the alert, she mentions that Wonder Man’s alert
which can only be deactivated either from the mansion of if it’s destroyed has gone dead.

Avengers Lineup: Beast, Captain America, Falcon, Ms. Marvel, Scarlet Witch, Iron Man, Vision, Wasp and Wonder Man.

Script by David Michelinie. Art by Arvell Jones (breakdowns) and Richard Villamonte (finishes).

Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #10 Feb 1985
    "Death to the Beyonder!"
With the heroes of Battleworld preventing Galactus from trying to consume the planet,
Galactus has no choice but to consume his own worldship for sustenance.
The heroes quickly shield their eyes from the blinding flash of light.

However as they witness Galactus consuming the needed energy they suddenly spot it being diverted back to Doombase.

Captain Marvel quickly travels there at he speed of light to see what happened and witnesses Doctor Doom
bombarding himself with the energies which he is filtering through special lenses made out of Klaw's body.

She reports this new development back to the others via Professor X's telepathic link.
With the process finished, Doom is revitalized by the sheer power he has absorbed
and soon finds his perceptions have been enhanced beyond human comprehension.
After acclimating himself, Doom suddenly senses Captain Marvel's presence in his midst.
When Xavier's psi-link is suddenly cut off the heroes all rush to the nearest shuttle, which is held aloft by Magneto's powers.

Along the way, Captain America makes a comment about Magneto living up to his "hype".
This starts a heated exchange between the two about human mutant relations.
When Cap says he is only standing by with Magneto due to the fact that the X-Men are vouching for him,
Wolverine pipes up and berates Captain America for not doing as much for mutants as he does ordinary humans.
When Wolverine becomes too heated, the X-Men pull him back to prevent a fight from happening.

While back at Doombase, Doom is debating on what to do about the Beyonder,
as he has power beyond compare but is it enough to stop the Beyonder?
Doom holds council with the severed head of Klaw and decides that
he must tempt fate and face the Beyonder even if it means his death.
Utilizing his new found power, Doom constructs a new suit of armor and departs for space.
The heroes soon arrive and find no trace of Doom and all their prisoners still locked in their cells.
Spider-Woman finds Captain Marvel who has somehow been trapped in her light form.
They also find the severed head of Klaw, and after a massive earthquake,
the disembodied villain tells them that Doom is about to face off against the Beyonder himself.
In deep space the Beyonder demands that Doom go back and not approach him,
but Doom is more determined than ever to claim this ultimate prize.

With the planet still shaking up, Mister Fantastic suggests that they try and revive Galactus and locates him in space on their monitors.
Before they can act another shockwave hits, causing part of Doombase to collapse on some of the heroes.
Amid the chaos, Colossus notices that Zsaji's village is in danger as well
and wants to go out to her but knows that she cares only for the Human Torch.
Colossus is shocked when the Torch is disinterested in helping her while trying to help Mister Fantastic from under the rubble.
Insulted by this, Colossus is about to start a fight when suddenly the planet is rocked by another massive earthquake.

While in space, Doctor Doom continues his attack on the Beyonder.
While his foe continues doubling his power to match Doom's, the monarch of Latveria refuses to surrender.
As a final effort, Doom beams an image of himself back to Earth and appears before the heroes.
He asks those who wish to defeat the Beyonder to lend them their power offering them everything they could want and more.
All they need do is take his hand. When Magneto reaches out to take itthe Wasp, Hawkeye and Iron Man attack him.
Magneto is kept at bay long enough that Doom cannot maintain the image anymore and disappears.
After he is gone, Hawkeye tries to chastise the X-Men for trusting Magneto, but Captain America orders him to stand down.

Doctor Doom has been defeated. His ravaged body now lays on the surface of Battleworld.
However, soon he is enveloped in energy and his mind probed. Doom's life flashes before his eyes:
his discovery that his later mother was a witch, how he became a famous defender of his people, the accident that ruined his face,
his rise to power in Latveria and his endless quest to rescue the soul of his mother from the clutches of the demon Mephisto.

Unwilling to die, Doom suddenly finds his body being recreated and his armor repaired by the energies swirling around him.
This rebirth is causing more earthquakes that threaten to bring down Doombase around the heroes.
Captain America orders an evacuation and goes to free their prisoners so they can escape themselves.
The heroes regroup outside just as Doombase crumbles to the ground.
Suddenly there is a blinding flash of light that appears above them and changes into a massive Doctor Doom.
Doom announces that the Beyonder is dead, and shrinking back down to human size, Doom removes his mask and declares the Secret Wars over.

    Avengers #252 Feb 1985
    "Deciding Factor!"
After an anti-mutant group burns down the New Jersey home of the Vision and the Scarlet Witch,
the android Avenger overcomes his indecision and prepares to implement his plan for world control,
but he first must lure his teammates away so that they cannot interfere.

He sends Captain Marvel to inspect Thanos's starship Sanctuary II, abandoned beyond the orbit of Pluto,

while the other Avengers are dispatched to join an army unit studying the technology of the mad Titanian's desert base.
When a teleport device there causes the inhumanly strong Blood Brothers to materialize, Captain America, the Scarlet Witch
and Starfox manage to keep them busy until they are dispatched by Hercules. Back at Avengers Mansion, meanwhile,
former member Dane Whitman aka Black Knight arrives unexpectedly and is taken captive by security devices

to become the sole witness to the Vision's machinations.
Avengers Lineup: Captain America, Captain Marvel, Hercules, Scarlet Witch, Starfox and the Vision.
NOTE: The Blood Brothers previously appeared in Iron Man 91.

    Captain Marvel #2 Feb 2000
"Does A Hulk Sit In The Woods?"
Marlo and Lorraine are out in the middle of the woods in Canada, filming
a Blair Witch Project type "mocumentary" movie where they search for monsters.
During filming, Marlo falls into the water and asks Lorraine to turn
the camera around, so she can dry off they’re not supposed to turn it off.
Lorraine then introduces herself to the camera as a desperate actress who has to
be out here with Marlo, who she thinks does not act and was hired only for her body.
She then turns the camera on Marlo, making her very upset.
The two evidently are not starting on a good foot.

Meanwhile, Captain Marvel flies toward Golden Orange Comics the store Marlo works at when his cosmic awareness senses gunfire.
He waits, thinking his powers are just screwing up and sure enough it goes away.
But he sweeps the area just in case and soon notices a car speeding down a rode.
He smashes into it, sending the two crooks running, but Captain Marvel quickly catches them both.
The police then show up, asking him if he has a reason for stopping them.
Captain Marvel then shoots open their trunk and they see lots of money and weapons.
The two men are then arrested, but one of the crooks then says Captain Marvel used illegal search and seizure,

but Captain Marvel responds by saying he is not a police officer bound by their laws.

Back in Canada, Marlo and Lorraine are still not getting around, but the director, Larry, cuts in and insists that they keep with it.
He is also very pleased with the hostility between them because it makes it seem much more real.

Rick Jones, meanwhile, is now in the comic shop, reading an edition of
Hulk Chapter One and making fun of John Byrne’s rendition of Hulk’s origin.
Rick then asks Al, at the shop, where Marlo is, and he explains that Marlo took
a few days off to film a documentary about monsters in the Canadian woods.
Rick swiftly leaves then, believing Marlo is going to run into Wendigo, a Canadian monster.

Just as he runs into an alley to transform his molecules into Genis’s, a man with a knife comes up asking for Rick’s bracelets.
Rick, then clashes them together, causing a large blast, transforming him into Genis and burning the hair and clothes off the man.

Captain Marvel then flies off toward Canada, telling Rick that the chances of Marlo
running into Wendigo are slim, but Rick insists it’s a strange world they live in.

Back in the tent in Canada, Marlo and Lorraine are still arguing.
Marlo asks Lorraine why she’s being so mean, and Lorraine explains that it’s
because her acting parts are always going to tall, good-looking types like Marlo.
Just then, the Hulk tears up their tent.

Captain Marvel then zooms down and blasts the Hulk,
thinking it is Wendigo. Marlo then screams for him not to hurt him,

when the Hulk punches him into a tree. Captain Marvel still doesn’t
know who he is up against, until he sees the Hulk charging toward him.

Captain Marvel then blasts him with twice the strength he did before,
but it does little to harm the Hulk, who is three times as angry as before.
Genis then asks Rick if he could change into him, since he knew Hulk and could talk to him.
But Rick doesn’t want Marlo to know he is bonded with him.
Then Genis hears a scream he thinks is Marlo.

Elsewhere, Lorraine is running away and is found by Larry.
Larry comforts her and then kills her with a knife.

Meanwhile, Moondragon shows up at Rick Jones’ apartment,
where Rick’s landlord confronts him, who’s looking for Rick’s rent payment.

She tells him while using her psychic powers that he’s letting Rick stay rent free, and he agrees.

Back in Canada, Marlo comes up to Hulk and asks him to leave Captain Marvel alone.
He finally calms down, when Captain Marvel charges and hits the Hulk in the back and into the lake.
There, Hulk grabs Captain Marvel by the neck and is drowning him, at which Rick asks Genis
why he can breath in space but not under water and Genis explains that his power
only protects him where there is no oxygen There is oxygen in water but he can't extract it.

Then, a large blast takes place underwater from Genis clicking his bands together to turn into Rick.
Hulk then wonders how Rick can be there. Rick then explains that it involves the AVENGERS
and takes FOREVER to tell. Just at that point, Wendigo appears and grabs Rick.
