    Default Good villains introduced recently?

I've seen it complained before that Marvel has gotten complacent with their villains and relies primarily on the older ones. How true is that?

Here we discuss this, and bring up villains that were introduced recently, the cut-off date being say 2005.

Ones that come to mind include:
    • The Black Order
    • Cul Borson
    • Dario Agger
    • General Fortean
    • Kindred
    • Knull
    • The Maker
    • Mr. Negative
    • Ms. Marvel's villains
    • ORCHIS
    • Overdrive
    • The Power Elite
    • Prowler (Aaron Davis)
    • Screwball
    • The Serpent
    • Spider-Gwen's villains

Of course, while we can list a lot of villains that were introduced, how many of them have caught on? And how good are they overall? That's the big question right there. How much merit does the complacency complaint have?

    Discuss.

    My favorite would be Ikari:

I'm rather surprised that Cates somehow made Knull work at all. I was really ready to hate him, but he's been used sparingly enough, and with a few real weaknesses, that he works.

Surprised no one's mentioned Gorr the God Butcher.

I think we've had some great villains lately really. Knull is at the top for me. I really like how he's been both introduced and tied to many concepts that existed previously. Plus he's got a great look and motivation. Really love what they've done. The First Firmament from Ultimates is a personal fav, I really like the concept. Not sure if Gorgon counts at the moment cause he's rocking with the X-Men but he gets a vote from me too for pure unadulterated badassery. And not sure he makes the cutoff but I always thought Daken was great.

And who could forget the terror of the Green Skull lol!

I think Gorr is the best post 2005 villain for sure. He had it all... great design, real threat, somewhat sympathetic, epic introduction, lasting legacy. Instant classic in my eyes.

They’ve already been mentioned but I am a fan of Knull, Dario Agger, Maker, Mr. Negative

I'm surprised by how many of these would be considered cosmic level or just below. These are some very, very powerful villains who should be too powerful to work in a Marvel setting, but which the writers are using very effectively.

The Maker (still cant believe Doom hasn’t gone up against him properly yet)
Knull (a great character. He instantly “fits” into the MU and symbiote mythology, as if he has been there all the time)
Gorr (arguably one of Thors greatest villains)
    The Black Order
    The Gorgon

I’m ready for this story. It needs to be an event or maxi series.

Dario Agger has staying power. A Minotaur CEO is creative inventory. It’s also a clever tweak of the character Cornelius Van Lunt/Taurus.
