Arrow already wasted the Outsiders brand. It was the name of the Mister Terrific/Wild Dog/Black Canary team in season 6.

I would've preferred an Outsiders show.

I kinda wouldn't have, an Outsiders team wouldn't have been done all that differently than any other team in the Arrowverse. it would've likely ended up feeling redundant and/or just being a less fun version of Legends. Black Lightning has done pretty great at reimagining and revitalizing characters like Painkiller and Tattoo Man, and while i've been meaning to catch up so I don't know much about what they're doing with them now, I'm always on-board to see them do more with them. I particularly like this move because I always hoped they could introduce this version of Painkiller (and the LaLa!Tattoo Man) in the comics, so this spinoff may do the trick.

He already basically had his own team in season 3, including their own version of Geo-Force.

She totally turned on him near the tail end of season 3 after saying she would never give up on him after he had a Painkiller relapse. She was a total hypocrite.

Woah, really? I thought they killed that character off. In fact, I was disappointed when I found out because of how much of a narrative waste it felt to have done so.

And on another level, I appreciate that it is the Black Lightning show that is creating the spin-offs. That is super refreshing, not to mention extremely gratifying.

Comic book wise he is dead. Only appeared in 4 issues of the ill fated 95 BL series.
