III or IV would be my picks if they're emulated. III, IV, V, & VI are my favorites.

I do not like either but most people start with VII or X.

I'd actually recommend the sprite-based games, particularly 4 and 6, over the PS1 games who's early polygon graphics look kinda rough by today's standards.

Kind of a controversial opinion but imo 12 is the best of the post PS1 games.

I like 4 & 6. I agree with the sprite recommendation. That's why I leaned into III so much. It introduces a lot of stuff that is common in the rest of the series.

I would start with FFX. The remaster is on PC and the game's story and combat is rather straightforward for a FF game.

I had the ending ruined for me so I don't know if I still want to play that. I've also had the ending of FFVI ruined so I'm going to avoid that. I ended up with FFIV. I was interested in 3, but honestly I didn't want to play as four kids, as stupid as that sounds, so I got IV instead.

Also, I don't mean to spam or anything, but if anyone doesn't know wario64 on twitter always posts really good deals on videogames, for those that might be interested. I didn't know about him, but ended up getting FF for 1/2 off, Doom for $5, Metro for free, and some other decent deals.

There's also V, which didn't get a North American SNES release (It was considered and would have been the original "III"), but was eventually ported to the PlayStation in the late 90s, apparently because it was considered too difficult or because they were too busy localizing other RPGS depending on who's talking. It's similar to IV graphics-wise but has a "Job" system. I think it's also the first of the games to get an animated spin-off which seems more or less the norm for the series now.

I bought the remastered version instead of the original with sprites and I'm starting to regret it. I like the "cinematics" but the 3d polygon chibi style does not work well with the environment. The scale is off and it's aesthetically ugly.

The remake of IV was a DS game. Sounds a crappy port.

Yeah, my friend gave me a copy of the DS version of FFIV and I thought it looked fine enough. Thought it was going to be sprite based so that through me for a loop, but it didn't look bad. The crappy save system killed it for me, but I'm fairly certain that was an artifact of the original.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

    Alienated - Die - Far Sector - New Mutants - Once & Future - Runaways - RWBY - X-Men

In terms of story, IX though it gets pretty stupid at the end.

In terms of gameplay, V. It's job system is so much fun. The story might be the dumbest of all the final fantasies though. I also have a soft spot for III. It plays like a lesser V but has a lot of fun boss fights and scenarios like having to shrink down to visit a dwarf village. It also had the coolest airship.

For ease of picking up and playing, IV.

You should have simply checked YT and see for yourself which one would appeal to you the most.
