He's called the dark knight detective because he helps the GCPD solves many mystery that stumped them and capturing the criminals but when did he get them I don't know but in story it should be as he build his reputation in Gotham but before he met Ra's al Ghul

As for World's Greatest Detective I don't know but the biggest case I can think of is Identity Crisis, though he came to the answer at the same time the murderer confessed

Old-school Batman wasn't a super martial artist who can fight an entire roomful of guys .

Originally he actually used detective skills more than beating guys up. It's why one of his comics was called "Detective Comics".

Well Detective Comics was pre-established, Batman was introduced in Detective Comics - and he just went around shooting people and beating them up as much as he used detective skills when initially introduced.
