Isn't the current main X-men book technically an anthology though? I don't know how it would be different. Just finally focusing on people besides Cyclops, Magneto, Emma and the like. But if that's the case, why not be clear about it and include the secrecy? No details beyond a cover and title makes me think its supposed to be a twist or a surprise.

No, that isn’t what an anthology is. Those are one-in-done stories of that same narrative that are building onto something bigger.
