I'm excited for this but thought it should've been a show instead.
I'm curious if its gonna be an early 2000s period piece.

That's confusing, already did a movie called that. Not familiar with the comic is it at all related to the movie?
Nvm read the whole article and they explain it. Happy they are calling the movie The great machine. Woulda caused some confusion
No they should just still call it Ex Machina.... like I understand changing the title, but the title has real meaning to it and there are zero similarities despite the same lead actor.
This is so exciting. I would have preferred this in TV format but honestly so great that this is getting adapted
spoilers:end of spoilers
In the comic (from what a fan/shop owner told me) the guy wasn't even that great of a hero, since catching falling people in the real world results in stuff like dislocated limbs (I actually read that scene) but his power gives him some level of control over machines, which he is in the proper place to use on September 11th, 2001 - preventing the second impact and saving one of the towers. This propels him into the mayor's office, and the meat of the story is supposed to pick up from there.
Dark does not mean deep.
I was really into this book when it was coming out. Oscar Issac is one of my favourite actors. Sounds like gold.
