Default Doesn’t it bother anyone else that Black Widow is a clone now ?

When mentioning cloning in Marvel you would think of Spider-Man and/or X-men, but never have I considered Black Widow having a clone saga moment. Which brings me back to my question: Why isn’t anyone a bit bothered by this ? Especially considering Marvel’s history with cloning.

Haven't been following her titles. But I do think the clone card is a lazy solution when a character has been written into a corner or some kind or another. Character A died in some in an disputable manner? Create a clone.

She's probably been a clone since before the Silver Age.

Who isn't a clone in Marvel these days? I just ignore that part and continue reading.

    They'll retcon it soon enough.

Because she has her original mind/soul?

This is comics. The meat doesn't matter as much as what's resting in the brainpan.

So cloned body but original soul.

    So, so what?

Very few characters are in their 'original' form, so....

But is it her original soul though. Since this is Marvel and they have shown there is an afterlife in the MCU they would need some way of pulling her soul back from where its at. Otherwise she is just s copy with implanted memories. There is nothing saying a clone can't have a soul, but it would be a totally new person and not the original. When you start getting into god like characters resurecting people then it gets a little more grey in did they just bring back the body or did they pull the soul back too, but most of the time I don't think just creating a new body brings back the soul unless it is stated. I mean the Fantastic Four had to actually go to the afterlife to get the Things soul back in that one story so the afterlife is a very real thing.

She may very well have died multiple times and been cloned before she defected. Who is to say that the Natasha who defected wasn't the 2nd or 3rd clone of her.

She has the same memories of the original. If they retcon it to have the original soul well , If they dont: dying preventing another kid became an assassin isnt a bad ending for original Natasha.

I mean, technically anyone who died in Secret Wars isn't really the original right? Soooo...
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.

Good point. We've always been led to believe that she stays young due to some knock off version of Cap's Super Soldier Serum... but being cloned would also explain why she doesn't look a day over 30. It is possible she was cloned at some point before she defected.

Yes, it bothers me...more than I can probably express. Marvel has used this lame cop-out stunt more times than I can count and to me it undermines the credibility of EVERYTHING in the Marvel universe. Literally any death, any bad act by a character can be justified by the use of clones...any writer should be ASHAMED to utilize this concept. It became lame after the first use...

Except no actions here are being placed at the hands of clones. Nat's mind is simply in a new body, nothing more or less.

Wasn't Tony replaced by a younger version of himself. Then had his mind wiped and rebooted. Then had body destroyed and had his mind downloaded into a clone. Same with Rhodey.

Didn't Peter shed his skin and grow an entirely new body?

Didn't Dr. Octopus die and copy his brain into a robot an download his brain into a clone of Peter Parker then make a deal with the devil to get his old body back.

Isn't Red Skull dead and now a clone with his memories walking around thinking he is the original Red Skull?

You get my point it's comics these things are normal

There is simple way to solve these issues it is called reboots, It is chance to place stories in modern era and do clean up on world but when a world has to be continuous forever and sometimes one writer kills a character but another writers wants to use the character and stuff like this happens. Pick your poison on this stuff where continuity stretches they are cracks clones and franklin richards being young teen is part of those cracks.
