This examines each QB that was drafted and the selection of Spergon Wynn is so insanely comical it defies belief. He was selected 16 picks before Brady and the guy had a worse college career than Brady had. In fact its pointed out he had a college completion percentage of 55.1% . Brady had a college career rating of 61.9%. Even Brady's college team mate mocked the QB's the Browns had saying how bad things were as he was on that team.

But we see Brady break down over the hurt at watching himself get passed over. We see how even years after the draft he relieves that moment breaking down.

As an update to those mentioned that were in the league in 2011 or 2012...

    - Marc Bulger : Became a backup QB due to injuries and production dropping. Decided to retire in 2011 even though numerous teams wanted him as a veteran backup.

    - Chris Redman : Became a backup QB after never developing in Baltimore. Played 5 seasons for Atlanta as a backup QB and was released by the team 2012. Was out of the league after that.

    - Chad Pennington : Sadly Pennington never could beat the injuries. After injuring his shoulder in 2010 , he was working on yet another comeback. Then he tore his ACL and decided against a 4th shoulder surgery. Retiring for good in 2012.
Pennington at least showed flashes of being a really good QB,but sadly he was brought down by injuries. Still, when you are part of the draft that produced the front runner in most "best of all time" conversations even living up to your potential isn't enough by comparison.

    - LA Chargers signed Austin Ekeler (RB) to a 4 year extension worth $24.5 million and $15 million guaranteed. This makes Melvin Gordon expendable in LA.

    - Washington Redskins granted Trent Williams permission to seek a trade. Williams relationship with the Redskins is well documented on how bad it went down in 2019.

    - The San Francisco 49ers are open to trading Marquise Goodwin (WR) . Goodwin since a great opening 2017 season has battled injuries and hasn't been on the field much in 2019. With the emergence of Deebo Samuel makes it easier to do this. Plus Goodwin's contract is very doable to trade as his cap number is very low the next 2 seasons for a WR and if healthy can be a legit deep speed WR.

    - The Philadelphia Eagles announced that Marty Mornhinweg has returned to the team as a senior offensive consultant. Mornhinweg has been a head coach for years.

    - Speaking of the Eagles , it was announced the team will let Jason Peters (LT) test free agency this year. Peters is 38 and could get one last big contract due to teams looking for good LT in the league. The Eagles seemed to realize that after 11 seasons Peters was going to be leaving at some point and drafted a player to take his spot this season.

    - LeSean McCoy is working out with Frank Gore as he plans to return in 2020. Of course it won't be in Kansas City as his agent admitted that McCoy will not be brought back there. McCoy will be looking for the right fit and no longer will command his old figure $8+ million a season.

    - Josh Norman (CB) wasn't out of work long after his release by the Washington Redskins. Today the Buffalo Bills signed Norman to a 1 year , $6 million dollar contract. With incentives the deal will be worth $8 million. Norman once played for Sean McDermott in Carolina at the height of his career when he was defensive coordinator. The move isn't a big contract killer and with Buffalo's cap room its to see if Norman can regain his form.

    - NY Giants Rhett Ellison (TE) announced his retirement after 8 seasons. Ellison was injured last year the final 6 games after a bad concussion.

    - Future Hall of Fame guard Marshal Yanda for the Baltimore Ravens announced his retirement after 13 seasons. Yanda was gonna retire last year but was convinced to come back for 1 more season. Yanda leaves as a 8 time Pro Bowl player and all-pro at his position for a few seasons. He also won a Super Bowl ring.

    - Atlanta Falcons GM Thomas Dimitroff claimed the Falcons aren't in salary cap hell. The team has only $4.3 million in cap space. They will have to let veterans like Austin Hooper (TE) leave in free agency due to being so strapped right now. Due to paying $20+ million to Matt Ryan and Julio Jones for 2020.

    - The Vegas Raiders released starting LB Tashir Whitehead (LB). In 2 seasons Whitehead had over 200+ tackles and the Raiders released him already with a lot of cap room. This release gives them $6.25 million more in savings.

    - Cleveland announced the release of Christian Kirksey (LB) today. Kirksey had been with the Browns 6 seasons but battled injuries the last 2 seasons. The Browns had prepared for this by drafting Mack Wilson in case this happened in 2019 and they were able to move on.

    - The Carolina Panthers signed Kyle Allen (QB) to a 1 year extension. Allen had started 13 games when Cam Newton went down and had started 4-0 but the wheels came off quick as his offensive line battled injuries and he struggled. Allen was set to become an exclusive rights free agent.

    - The NFL and NFLPA agreed to moving the franchise tag to Monday now , extending time for that as the 2 sides plan to meet and possibly vote a new CBA deal by Saturday.

According to NBC Sports last month (right on Super Bowl eve) , the Saints was in close contact with Drew Brees about what could happen. As Brees was watching (there or at home) the staff called Brees to inform him ; the Saints could possibly select a QB if the guy they wanted fell to that position. As Sean Payton revealed a year later on his draft board there was 2 guys they had 1st rd grades on they wanted.

    One was Marshon Lattimore (CB)

    The other was Pat Mahomes.

The 49ers admitted as Kyle Shanahan claims they didn't do that much work into Mahomes. That they passed on him because they didn't really look into him.

    Comp Picks are out!

    COMPENSATORY PICKS AWARDED BY TEAM

    New England: 4

    Denver: 3

    Houston: 3

    Minnesota: 3

    New York Giants: 3

    Philadelphia: 3

    Seattle: 3

    Baltimore: 2

    Miami: 2

    Chicago: 1

    Dallas: 1

    Los Angeles Rams: 1

    Pittsburgh: 1

    Tampa Bay: 1

    Washington: 1

    TOTAL: 32
NE gets the most with 4 and NE also has the most in the 3rd round (two picks comp, three in all).

Houston has the highest pick at 97 and the New York Giants get the last at 255.

Philly has the highest average pick and the lowest spread between picks. They'll have 5 picks in total in the 3rd and 4th round, the most in any run of 32 picks. Apparently that's called a Billy Bill (5 picks for one team in 32 picks), named after Parcells & Belichick who are know to bunch picks via trades.

According to a report Dallas offered Dak Prescott $33 million a season with over $105 million guaranteed in a new contract. Prescott has already rejected one offer of $33 million and its believed Prescott wants a short term deal so he can cash in again instead of a long term one. Also he doesn;t want a deal that is blown past by Pat Mahomes when he inks his new deal in a few months.

Now nothing against Dak Prescott but he has to really step up to Mahomes level 1st before he gets that big massive deal. I know he wants to cash in but that $33 million a season would be more than what Kirk Cousins gets and be right now around close to Russell Wilson money wise a season. And Prescott hasn't done what Wilson has. Yes Prescott is a solid QB and really been a franchise guy. But he has to step to Mahomes level to me 1st before he demands near Mahomes money.

And whats wild is Pat Mahomes hasn't even made a peep he wants $40 million a season. So hell , Mahomes may take $35-38 million a year or less to help KC field competitive teams etc.

The only QB in the league right who could justly argue getting a deal anywhere near the one Mahomes will get is Russell Wilson as he is still young enough to assume you'll get good years out of him the length of the deal unlike someone like Aaron Rodgers who has reached the age where he could fall off a cliff production wise. Brady and Brees are obviously too old to risk doing more than a year or two at a time. If Lamar Jackson stays healthy and continues to produce he'll have an interesting case in a few years but Dak barely a top 10 QB in the league right now: Mahomes, Brees, Brady, Rodgers, Watson, Wilson, and Jackson are clearly above him and there is another 5-6 who are arguably equal.

And to be honest I think that guys like Dalton and Tannehill could produce just as well with Zeke as a back, Amari as a #1 WR, and that offensive line.

Those are the only $30M+ QBs in the NFL right now in my mind.

5 of them have won Super Bowls , with 2 of them on the cusp of things possibly. But here are the $30+ million QB club.

    - Russell Wilson - $35 million
    - Ben Rothlisberger - $34 million
    - Aaron Rodgers - $33.5 million
    - Carson Wentz - $32 million
    - Matt Ryan - $30 million

Now its expected Tom Brady will sign a $30 million a year deal his final 2 seasons. But in 2019 his salary was insane for this price - $23 million. But of that reworked deal , Brady banked $20+ million of it as a signing bonus. Drew Brees himself banked $25 million in 2019 and likely could command that $30+ million figure a season to play in 2020.

XFL TV ratings continue to fall in Week 4

Four weeks into its relaunch, the XFL finds itself in a stretch that could prove to be very telling when it comes to the league's long-term health. And while it's far too soon to hit the panic button, the trajectory of the XFL's television ratings aren't exactly something for league executives to be smiling about.

Ratings for the league dropped once again in Week 4, down 14 percent from the Week 3 figures, according to Austin Karp of the Sports Business Journal. The four games played in Week 4 averaged 1.38 million viewers per contest after the games garnered an average of 1.61 million viewers a week prior. The average viewership in Week 4 was less than half of that from Week 1, when an average of 3.12 million viewers tuned in per game as the league kicked things off.

As a whole, the 16 XFL games played to date this season have averaged just more than 2 million television viewers per contest, according to Karp. For those seeking a comparison, Notre Dame football averaged 2.1 million viewers per game this past season across the team's contests that were carried by NBC.
Could this make for a long term problem for the fledgling league? Things don't figure to get any better in the weeks to come, what with March Madness kicking off next week and the stretch drive of the NBA and NHL seasons.

Honestly Vince should have the XFL season be April to July. This way he's out of the way of March madness and you can have a real spring/summer league. The Arena Football League is gone. They could use this time to push the league.

WM season would be out of the way, too. He could use that to prop up XFL.

I watched the first couple of weeks but in the end dropped it. THe play was not that great. Players I dont care about. No team even close to me. I thought it might be fun but I just couldnt buy into it.

Between the XFL and the AAF, I'm wondering if it's not football I enjoy, but the emotional connection that I have with the Buffalo Bills. I can sit down and enjoy any level of baseball from Little League to Minor Leagues to MLB regardless of affiliation or any team loyalties, but both the "minor" football leagues that have popped up the last two years have been really boring to me and I didn't make it after two weeks.
