Well, on the primary DCU (during a certain span of Rebirth time, with "The Lies" and "The Truth"), that was said, and explicated. And I think it's a very bad idea for reasons I've gone into before, and I hope it's not true for whatever version of Wonder Woman we'll be getting from wherever the primary DCU goes tomorrow. (Who knows?)
But, in the parallel world that features The New 52 (which is sometimes called Earth-52), Azzarello's version is accurate.
Myself, I am suffering from Multiverse Exhaustion, and would rather focus on one version of Diana, who has a cohesive backstory and ongoing narrative, and not ever think about The New 52 Wonder Woman as anything other than a comic book DC once published which has nothing to do with current continuity.
But that's just me.
(And to be honest, if they create an Earth-2 for the original JSA - which I think they should - I have no objection to the Golden Age Wonder Woman, Batman, and Superman being in it, and GA Green Arrow and Aquaman, among others, in that world if not in the JSA. But I wouldn't want to see a lot of crossovers and characters migrating from world to world. Or too many other parallel worlds in use. Multiverse Exhaustion.)
