Spiderman, no hyphen. He's based on all the similarities the old Superman vs The Amazing Spider-Man crossover pointed out between Peter and Clark.

Here, Spiderman is an alien from the planet Spider (a reference to Supaidaman) whose telekinetic web field gives him super strength and super speed as well as webs of psychic energy. Seeing that Earth is menaced by the Sinistar Alliance of six interstellar warlords, he becomes humble Daily Bugle reporter Peter Parker as a cover to investigate the Sinistar alliance's earth based operations (think Intergang). In this world, Betty Brant is his romantic interest.

Richard and Mary Parker: Alternative versions of Peter's parents that, while they worked for SHIELD, they made experiments with radiation that ended up giving them both Spider-Powers. This ended up turning them into valuable SHIELD Agents, and young Peter Parker indirectly inherited their powers. This caused Peter Parker to have a quite different life, especially when the full of his powers manifested at puberty, like Mutant's powers. From the shadows, Richard and Mary had to see their son to grow up from the distance, while they had to fake their deaths in one of their missions. Time later, they also had Teresa, who they kept along with them. Such a family drama, don't you think?

That could be an excellent idea, especially Anansi being one of the patron gods of Wakanda and thus . . . would the Heart-Shaped Herb be called Heart of the Spider?

"Heart of the Spider". Sounds familiar. Does "Anya Corazón" as "Araña" means anything to you?

Definitely. I have the first and third digests of her original series (been trying to find the second), as well as the one-shot finale that teamed her up with Spider-Man, "The Hunter Revealed."

I thought about Steve Rogers or Tony Stark getting bitten instead of their traditional origins.

I wanted Tony to get his through an botched assassination attempt by Osborn.

What if it wasn't even a spider at all that bit Peter? What about having a mosquito or a roach or something get exposed to radioactivity and then bit Pete?

You kind of get your wish in a roundabout sort of way in Marvel 1602, where Peter Parquagh's blood was used in the Super-Soldier Serum that turned Steve Rogers into Captain America.

i keep forgetting that "every man" peter parker's parents were secret agents.

i reckon to have them also coincidentally get the powers of teh spydr, you'd probably have to work in mystic totem shenanigans to explain why

Instead of being bit by a spider, maybe he gets bit by a werewolf or a vampire?
