Default DC Next Dawn - February Solicits!

We present to you DC Next Dawn, a collection of all new fan-made issues on “sale” this month, FEBRUARY 2020!

What is “DC Next Dawn” and how does it work?

Next Dawn, previously known as “New Dawn,” is a fan fiction universe and solicitation game that has been in existence on the CBR boards for approximately ten years! It has gone through several iterations and has survived forum reboots! The way it works is that “plotters” write short solicitations for monthly comic books! Then participants “buy” the books they want to read! The books with the most buys get rewards. Sounds fun, right? So let’s do this! Which of this month's solicits interest and excite you? Let us know by posting which books you'd pick up in the virtual Next Dawn Store (this solicitation thread). You can pull as many as you'd like, but also consider your "virtual budget" when making your selections, as sales are used to reward our titles and plotters. Registers are open all month and sales are tallied at the end of the month.

Absolutely anyone can make purchases right here in this thread - so please do!. It’s free and is basically just saying “I’d read this” or “I like this!” So let us know!

If you want more information on Next Dawn or are interested in plotting yourself, please visit us at the Next Dawn Bullpen Thread.

    Behold! Our monthly archive!
This is the repository of our prior work; a compilation of all the monthly solicitation posts since the forum was reset in 2014.

Darkseid: You dare trespass in the Great Hall of Apokolips? In the presence of Darkseid?"
Diana: I've heard of you. My mother would tell stories of you. Cautionary tales.
    Darkseid: Of my greatness.
    Diana: Of your madness.
    Darkseid: Hmm.
<Darkseid watched them a moment, then gestures toward the head of Steppenwolf>
Darkseid: A great warrior, once lost to defeat, recently attempted to take your world in the name of Darkseid.
    Diana: We defeated him.
Darkseid: Because he was foolish. You took his courage, and when he returned I took his head. In the name of Darkseid. Your world will fall...there is no hope. No tomorrow. Only...Darkseid."

    THE FLASH #7
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by ROBERT KIRKMAN
    Art by FRANK CHO
“THE LIFE AND TIMES OF VANDAL SAVAGE” part two “BLOODLINES”
When Flash decides to end his “conversation” with Vandal Savage, he finds his speed neutralized. For Vandal has much experience with speedsters, knows their “Kryptonite” is a time-travel reagent called Suspendium, and is going to insist that Flash listen to absolutely everything he has to say...
Savage had fought bloody wars for millennia, exterminating humanity’s rivals so that his people would survive, until eventually he came to understand that immortality was not the greatest gift he received from the meteorite. No, the true gift was his blood. All of his children, and there were many, carried the most fantastic potential. The challenge, however, was unlocking it...
Flash Fact: a “spontaneous chromosomal combustion" can take place when a metagene is exposed to various forms of biostress – chemical, radioactive, etc. A potential catastrophe becomes the catalyst for "genetic change," resulting in metahuman abilities.
In a time veiled in legend known as the “Pytharian Age,” Savage, then known as Vandar Adg, ruled a kingdom. His cruelest son, Prince Gragothor Adg, was struck by lightning while harassing an alchemist. Yet he did not die. Instead, he gained impossible speed - which he used to sadistic ends... until he met one warrior who dared stand against him. A barbarian with the hand of a demon, could Claw the Unconquered end Gragothor’s reign of terror? And could Vandar learn how to bring out similar powers in his other children?
Meanwhile, in the present, Barry Allen must deal with the revelation.... that all metahumans, including himself, are descended from Vandal Savage!

    GREEN LANTERN #7
    Plot by EXCITER
    Written by MARK MILLAR
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
    “RETRIBUTIVE JUSTICE”
With anger hot and filled with hate...
Guy Gardner attempted to apprehend a Khund gang of murderers and larcenists. In the process, the gang’s ship - the Firefist - was destroyed. A forensic analysis subsequently revealed that the Firefist had no weapons systems...
    For your crimes we retaliate...
Massive protests around Oa and elsewhere erupt. “Remember the Firefist” becomes a rallying cry for those opposed to the Green Lantern Corps’ “heavy handed” enforcement of law. Facing mounting pressure from member worlds of the United Planets, the Guardians of the Universe are left with no choice... but to ask for Guy’s resignation.
    If in evil you engage...
Cackling from Kalanor, Despero’s plan to force his enemy from power by falsifying the forensic report on the Firefist is a success! But Guy Gardner still has the will to fight injustice, albeit now mixed with righteous anger. That makes him the perfect recruit for another Lantern Corps that’s more concerned with ensuring criminals get what they deserve than about civil rights...
Beware our wrath - Red Lantern’s rage!
Plus, John Stewart visits the human settlers on Mongul’s Warworld. They appear to be honest immigrants, assimilating to their new home’s culture and finding peace through superior firepower. But John just can’t bring himself to trust Mongul... will this cause the humans to turn on their would-be protector?
Meanwhile, Hal Jordan confirms his worst fear... Starro has gained control of Doomsday!

    LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #7
    Plotted by Clark_Kent
    Written by Grant Morrison
    Art by Kenneth Rocafort
Vampire Victor engages with Steel, as Vampire Flash grabs Superboy and races out of the building. The Eradicator follows. Vampire Harley, still singing to herself, attacks Henshaw. Wanting to spare the civilians in the bunker, he grabs her and flies her back out to the street.
Superboy would find himself 5 states away from Gotham before he could wrestle free; Vampire Flash, tapping into the newly-found BLOODFORCE, just may be faster than his Earth-1 counterpart. Facing him down, Superboy tries to get a handle on him but Flash is too fast: hundreds of punches land before Superboy can form a single thought.
Vampire Victor launches cables which connect to Steel's armor, engaging within a technovirus Steel has not seen before. Steel launches several shots from his bolt launcher, punching holes in Victor's body, but the Vampire persists. The technovirus shuts down Steel's onboard A.I., making him vulnerable...
Back on the street, Henshaw attacks with a flurry of heat vision and fists. Though her undead skin becomes scorched, Harley continues to laugh and sing. She pounces on Henshaw, finding that this Cyborg Superman does indeed have flesh around his neck...and if there is flesh, there must be blood! She sinks her teeth deep into Henshaw's neck, both sucking his blood as well as injecting the vampiric poison into his Kryptonian system...

    THE QUESTION #7
    Plotter: CaptCleghorn
    Writer MARK RUSSELL
    Artist BILL SIENKIEWICZ
“What Are Little Girls Made Of?”
Merry, the Girl of a Googleplex of Gimmicks, has a mission she needs Vic’s help for. Hub City International Airport has an international designation due to a handful of international flights a week. These are cargo flights only and although everything about them screams smuggling, nothing has been done about it. Quelle surprise! Merry wants Vic to spread word of the human trafficking going out of Hub City and wants the Question to help her kick some ass and stop that trafficking.
What Vic (and Merry) don’t know is that Vicki Vale is also undercover and riding with some of these women being shipped off to the generally unpleasant Caribbean island of Santa Prisca. Hub City has a reputation for being a place where a woman of few morals and less self-esteem can make a few bucks selling herself and the supply of victims seems endless. Can Vic, Vicki, and Merry put a dent in this monumental evil?
By the way, Vic did hurl last issue and Vic’s identity was revealed to Merry. Vic also discovered through the comicbook heroes code that Merry is actually Merry Pemberton, an heiress to the Pemberton Industries fortune.
Meanwhile, Tot is back at his apartment just in time to encounter environmental activism at Hub City University. Thinking Vic shouldn’t be the only hero in the bunch, he joins with Professor Jason Woodrue and the two teachers discuss plans over coffee and expensive liquor.

Dr. Emily Sung tells Red X what she knows of Meridian’s grand design.
It isn’t much, but it has something to do with the source of Xenothium, codenamed Nidhogg; it’s had many other names. The Sapphire of Ranagar. The Flame of Life. The Starheart.
Dick Grayson attempts to infiltrate the chambers of Marcus Moore, the Deadman, to learn more.
But, considering last issue’s shocking revelation, he might be playing right into their hands.
Because Meridian knows Red X is Dick Grayson. They’ve known the whole time.
    And Dick has no idea.

    Plotter: YOHEI72
    Writer: MATT FRACTION
    Artist: FRANK QUITELY
    Color Artist: F.C.O. PLASCENCIA
Mister Miracle can escape from a crippled space capsule shot into the sun (and he has), but after a day and a half on Twitter, he's locked himself out of his account. At least his Instagram is still working – but that turns out to be a mixed blessing when he accidentally posts some B&D photos taken with wife Big Barda. It's damage control time for his PR gurus, Candace Baptiste and Ira Zlotnik. So where are they? Oh. Kidnapped by Darkseid's bestial son Kalibak. Well, this is at least a familiar situation for Scott and Barda, if not for Candace and Ira. Social media is hard, but superheroics they know how to do.
And an unfamiliar situation unfolds for Hollywood director Austin Butler, as a mysterious figure intrudes into the prep for his upcoming comic book blockbuster Rise of the Night Ranger: Godfrey Gloriana, an “associate” of star/producer Kyle Mason, is suddenly everywhere, putting his very strange stamp on the casting, the production design, even the screenplay. More amazing yet, he's infiltrating his own people from Kyle's damned Apokoliptist religion into the crew. What's next? An Executive Producer credit?

Zealot and Troia go to Bana-Mighdall to answer a mysterious request from Artemis.
Zealot has a secret of her own — a budding attraction to Kasia! But is the new Troia over her feelings for Diana?

SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN #6
    Plotter: YOHEI72
    Writer: TOM KING
    Artist: JEROME OPEÑA
    Color Artist: MATT HOLLINGSWORTH
Word spreads rapidly of the revelation about the eerie monstrosities known as the Gigglers – they appear to be animals, but under the surface, they're plants. At the moment when the villagers need to mount their defense against a new wave of the creatures, Brother Willam tells them they must purge the “witch” within their community whom he blames for creating and unleashing the Gigglers. That can only be Kaira, with her telepathic connection to plant life. Whether she, and perhaps the whole community, can survive the night may depend on whether the weakened Swamp Child can tap some vestige of his former strength.

    Written by DIANA GABALDON
    Art by JOE MADUREIRA
Carol Ferris was a Star Sapphire, a member of the Violet Lantern Corps that travelled the cosmos rendering humanitarian aid to countless planets in the name of “love.” She was also Hal Jordan’s girlfriend. Yet she was neither of those things now. After losing her power ring, she returned to Earth and took an executive job at her father’s aviation company. But being the C.O.O. of Ferris Air left her unfulfilled. She yearned for more... for love. And she knew it was out there, in the stars. So Carol took a leap of faith and now finds herself on a new world and in the early stages of courtship with a dangerous, powerful new man.
Oh, the new world is Warworld and the new man... is Mongul!

Starring Vic Sage, Vicki Vale, and Merry, the Girl with a Googleples of Gimmicks
It’s Valentine’s Day. Vic has somehow (don’t ask us how, it’s a superhero comic book) gotten Vicki Vale to accept a dinner invitation. He’s managed to get a reservation far enough outside of Hub City to have an enjoyable evening. But Merry Pemberton has a job she needs Vic’s help with. Enjoy the behind the scenes attempts at messaging as a 19 year old heiress tries to get a cable TV host away from his dream date with a big name print journalist.
Will Vic’s date go well? Just answer the title question.

When he turns around, will she see her love, or the bright eyes of Eclipso?
(Jamie would like to apologize to Bonnie Tyler on behalf of the entire creative team for Kieron’s puns. Kieron, meanwhile, regrets nothing.)

lol I had to go back to see what it was. Still great! If it was actually on sale, I would legit buy it based on that alone.

Since my purchases didn't post correctly last month, I would like to purchase 1 of everything please! Trying to make up for a lost month is expensive, but worth it!

Every post I make, it should be assumed by the reader that the following statement is attached: "It's all subjective. What works for me doesn't necessarily work for you, and vice versa, and that's ok. You may have a different opinion on it, but this is mine. That's the wonderful thing about being a comics fan, it's all subjective."

BAT-WING #7 (How many heroes are there in Africa to keep a superhero serial killer busy?"
DC EXTENDED UNIVERSE #7 (Novel approach Darkseid had taking the head of Steppenwolf. One would usually imagine Omega Beams disintergrating him.)
DEADLY HANDS OF CONNOR HAWKE #7 (True love means killing your victims together.)
    THE FLASH #7 (Family! Amirite?)
GREEN LANTERN #7 (Someday I want to be the Poet Laureate of the Galaxy and write oaths for each of the Lantern Corps.)
LEGENDS OF THE MULTIVERSE #7 (Vampires suck. Roll On Snare Drum. Good joke. Would you believe "classic" joke?)
MYSTERY IN SPACE #6 (Even at space weddings, one MUST do the Chicken Dance and line up for the Bouquet/Garter throws or the Royal Guard will hunt you down.)
THE OUTSIDERS #6 (You had me at Outsiders outside their costumes. Oh, they'll be wearing clothes? Darn!)
THE QUESTION #7 ((Two old teachers drinking can't end well. Just sayin')
RED X #7 ("You knew? Well, I knew you knew!" "We knew you knew we knew" ad nauseum. If Mel Brooks was writing this, that is. This will probably be better.))
…SAME AS THE OLD GODS #3 (Another interesting twist. Being able to get OUT of anything doesn't necessarily mean you can get into everything.)
SENSATION COMICS #7 (Mixing personal issues and work responsibilities is problematic, but fun to read about.)
SWAMP THING: SEA OF GREEN #6 (The Gigglers? Great name.)
NEXT DAWN VALENTINE’S DAY SPECIAL #1! (Did I buy everything again? Perhaps I can give these books out as Valentines to my loved one. Wait, VDay is past? I'm now broke and having forgotten valentines. I'm doomed.)
