    Default Best runs in characters

Was just wondering if we as a forum could compile a list of what we think are the best runs for characters. There’s a few I can think of, and a few more that will probably take a bit of disputing.

    Brubaker/Epting on Captain America
    Miller/Mazzucchelli Daredevil
    Fraction/Aja on Hawkeye
    Stan Lee/Kirby on Fantastic Four

There’s a few I can think of for Spider-Man/X-Men etc. Are there any other like the ones above we can think of?

Only because no one else is probably going to mention it:

Bruce Jones and Brent Anderson - Ka-Zar the Savage

and Walt Simonson (w/Sal Buscema) on Thor

It's pretty easy to figure the consensus although there are some pretty disputable ones. Like Stan Lee is hard to beat on Spider-Man, except you can definitely make a case for Stern and Slott.

Most people I'm willing to bet will say:
    Brubaker Cap
    Simonson Thor
    Fraction Iron Man
    David Hulk
    Claremont X-Men
    Hickman Avengers (?)
    Lee Kirby Fantastic Four
    Moench Moon Knight
    Fraction Hawkeye
    Slott She Hulk
    Ennis Punisher

Not sure about too many others. I really like Millar on Wolverine and Hama's run up to AoA, but maybe Aaron these days?

Larry Hama’s Wolverine run. His is the definitive version of the character in my mind

    Absolutely DnA on Nova.

For me, Peter David's run with Genis Vell is still my favourite Captain Marvel series.

Avengers is a three way tie—for me. Jim Shooter’s original run, Roger Stern’s run, and Kurt Busiek/George Perez.
X-Men—Claremont. No other choice for me.
    Doctor Strange—Stern, and Englehart.
    Hulk—Bill Mantlo
    Thor—Thomas/Buscema
Fantastic Four—I haven’t read the Lee/Kirby run yet, so I guess I’m going with Byrne

Doctor Strange had some excellent creators early on, but I am going to say Steve Englehart's run was the strongest. Would love to hear other thoughts.

Duggan/Posehn, then just Duggan - Deadpool
    Nicieza - Gambit

Daredevil is too hard to pick a best run. You have Miller, Brubaker, Bendis, Waid, among others and Zdarsky is LIGHTING IT UP right now.

DnA were also great on Guardians of the Galaxy. I really liked Star-Lord on that comics.

But thanks to Bendis, I want Star-Lord dead... He is no longer that character.

    Walt Simonson on Thor
    John Byrne of Fantastic Four
    Roger Stern on Amazing Spider-Man
    Jim Starlin on Silver Surfer
And the already mentioned Priest on Black Panther
