    Default Hellboy '69-'73 - Vietnam?

His draft number was 162 and he was "born" in 1944, which means he would've been called for possible induction at the first draft in 1969. Whether he was considered ineligible due to his being an active member of the B.P.R.D. is another question, but I can't imaging Bruttenholm allowing him to run off to fight in Vietnam, no way, no how.

However, we do have quite a gap between 67-74 in terms of the timeline, and since the first draft took place in '69 and they left the war in '73, it's utterly conceivable that this unknown period has Hellboy off in Vietnam... which would make a pretty good collection of short stories a la Hellboy in Mexico.

    Give it to me.

Edit: I'm going to move this concept to a separate thread I think.
Has anyone got any information regarding Hellboy and his whereabouts during Vietnam?

That'd be pretty interesting. I can't imagine him participating directly in the war but investigating strange reports from soldiers deployed to the area would be fair game and give writers a chance to tackle Vietnamese folk lore.

Given the BPRD's prior relationship with the Army I could see them calling in a favor and asking Hellboy to search for a missing unit or something.

1969 Hellboy's missions to Romania and Scotland according to the ''Hellboy Companion.'' ..If possible ( and Mike wants to go there) South East Asia is open for investigation with the Vietnam War as background and foreground...I didn't see this as a Sgt Rock story scenario, more a both sides are fighting with a neutral BPRD plus others as advisors

Production values on that short were brilliant....I just watched the Ken Burns ''Vietnam War'' series as well. [ eye opening] I would have also liked to see the story from the perspective from the other 5 Nations who were there, and contributed.
