Default Anyone Else Miss The Guys Who Did Voice Overs For Trailers?

Was watching this video about on Youtube. It's a recording of trailers that opened for a cinematic showing of Digimon the Movie in 2000. I found I really liked the trailer voice overs. I used to watch rented movies as a kid and I really enjoyed the voice overs for the trailers. I kind of miss them.

I never really thought about it much, but it's true you don't really hear it as much anymore.

Lake Bell did a film in 2014 called "In a World..." about the world of voice-over actors and especially about the ones who do voice-overs for movie trailers.

Watching television is not an activity.

Yeah, those voices sounded great with the rumbling theater sound and the smell of popcorn in your nose.

They got replaced by the guy who plays a piano note with loads of reverb on every few seconds.

Well, those trailers enticed you with the set up of the movie. These days they just show you every major scene in the movie. So no need for carefully crafted narration to make you want to see the movie.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Trailers these days are mostly "Look over here, you shaved apes! Primary colors! Explosions! Dopamine! Sweet, sweet dopamiiiiiine!"
