Shalla Bal 's Rex saving the kittens!
Nods to Nschornhorst's Smokey (I can't believe they are shooting at him!), and Ravin'Ray's Hotstuff vs little wind up firemen is pure joy!

Shalla Bal cause Rex the Wonder Dog = automatic win.
I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Congratulations Shalla Bal, and long live the King!

Thanks everyone -- I'm very surprised to see this, because people were posting things like "No one can beat Rex the juggernaut!" ... but when I last checked, I noticed that no one had actually voted for the cover! So I was thinking uh oh this does not bode well for Rexy...

Thanks to ChadH, Scott Taylor, SquirrelMan, Güicho and LordMikel for the votes. Unfortunately I have a busy schedule today so I probably won't get to post a new contest until hours later today--sorry!

    Stay tuned...

Congrats Shalla, Gil Kane certainly knew his way around an exciting cover.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
