(In this comic they team up to stop that weird dwarf wizzard guy and a giant sized Lou Albano. (The only way that could have been better is if they had dressed Captain Lou up in his Mario costume.)

No, the white (or silver/steel) looking one was based on a little used character from the 40s and brought back in Roy Thomas nostalgia comic All-Star Squadron:





The Doom Patrol character was created in the 60s and went through several looks, but was always gold or brass looking.
