Off the top of my head:

My favorite stretch is Superman #292-#303
    Action #421 and #458
"What's So Funny About Truth, Justice, and the American Way?"
    Superman #164
"Whatever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow?"
    "Saved!"

Canon... eh, just the Morrison run.

Let's see, off the top of my head.

    Morrison's Action Comics run
    Pak's Action comics
For The Man Who Has Everything
    All-Star Superman
    Superman Chronicles: Kryptonite
    Superman: Birthright
The Death of Superman, Funeral for a Friend, and Reign of the Supermen (this is when I started reading Superman regularly, so it holds a special place in my heart)
    Brainiac by Geoff Johns
What Ever Happened to the Man of Tomorrow
    Kingdom Come
    Red Son
    Secret Identity
There was also a one shot story by Busiek where an elderly woman though Superman was her angel. I don't remember the name of the story, but I loved it. I'll have to see what issue that one was...

I'll probably think of more. That's a mix of old continuity, new continuity and some Elseworlds/out of continuity stuff.

I can't believe this, but I just read For Tomorrow for the 2nd or 3rd time and I enjoyed it. Loved the Phantom Zone stuff, loved the robots he built, loved the Fortress stuff... Even the exaggerated Superman brooding was very Silver Age. It has a ton of Silver Age touches! Superman doesn't kill in this story either.

No matter how many reboots, new origins, reinterpretations or suit redesigns. In the end, he will always be SUPERMAN

I'd love to learn your favorite, preferrably canon, Superman stories.
Sadly mine are both elseworldy as well. I loved 1980s Superman and his DC Comics Presents team ups. Two that stuck out were his cross over with The Masters of the Universe as well as his cross over with Captain Carrot! DC Comics Presents 47.jpg

I wrote a little blog post on it a while back if anyone wants to check it out! This had classic Curt Swan Superman and He-Man! I was 8 years old reading this and loved it..it hasnt aged well but still love it to this day!!

All Star Superman and Byrne's Run are my favorite but recently my buddy got some comics and it had this crossover with a sick cover of all a bunch of superheros getting nuked, the interesting part was that it was a perfect match to the cover from the previous month, except the superheros had not been hit by a bomb. We talk about it in this weeks episode of A Comic Book look.

All Star Superman and Secret Identity are the big ones for me. They're pretty much polar opposite takes on Superman but both get right to why he's such an enduring character. All Star, in particular, is to my mind at least, the single greatest superhero story of all time - or at the very least the quintessential superhero story that should be read by anyone who wants to truly understand what's so great about the genre.

Other than those two, I really like/ love Red Son, Moore's '80s Superman stories, Morrison's Action Comics (despite my general hatred towards most of the New 52), certain portions of the Loeb/ Kelly/ Schultz years and Birthright and I will always have a soft spot for the Triangle era (Simonson, Jurgens, Stern etc.) in the 1990s, even if just purely for nostalgic reasons.

New Krypton is my favorite Superman story. I felt that was an amazing "final story" for the Pre-52 Superman that brought together all the surrounding mythology of the character. (That's mainly the reason I have no problem with the New 52 Superman.)

Death of Superman has the most impact on me because that was the first actual comic book story I read of Superman when I was really young.

Final Crisis: Superman Beyond is my favorite Grant Morrison written Superman story.

John Byrne's Man of Steel run was fantastic and different. Especially with Jimmy Olsen's Mom being a hottie...sorry, Jimmy.

Geoff Johns Superman and the Legion of Super-Heroes is one of my favorites. Enjoying his current run, too.

Still have to read Birthright. Mark Waid and Alex Ross' Kingdom Come was freaking unbelievably awesome.

Really enjoying Superman: Unchained, at the moment.
