Captain America Comics especially the first 10 issue, were incredibly high octane.

Love Romances had great emotional tension and was a forerunner of Stan Lee’s later Marvel style

The Two Gun Kid showed an amazing harshness towards young men left to their own devices, by tragedy.

The first Namor and Submariner epic battles - was it Marvel Mystery Comics - was an eruption of the first villain, anti-hero dynamic in the then Atlas tradition. Shocking in that it portrayed New York being attacked way before 9/11.

These Tomes still fill me with the energy of those times when they were published, and no wonder they sold in the millions some of them. The artwork was rudimentary and seminal, but the symbiotic blending of art and words had been created, and was a springboard to development and evolution to all that came after. A lot of cred’s to Martin Goodman that though a harsh taskmaster, worked with what he had.

I've read a few Timely/Atlas comics but found them to be difficult to read. Lots of interesting and corny characters though.

Indeed, quite a number of them, with some having been published quite a bit more than others:
