Darkseid is orion's opponent. Not DC's as whole. If darkseid is being outside, superman has more connection to him. Why? Jimmy olsen. He is The superman . He has no limit to his potential. He would be able to take darkseid. And that's the bare minimum.

That other scene you had was Schultz, not Loeb. Darkseid and Superman have been roughly equal in power for a long time, for the good or bad of that idea. Even back when Cosmic Odyssey came out it's not like there wasn't a strong rivalry between them

He was swatted away in dcau as well. These action heroes scale up or power up. Its a whole different deal, whether the powerups are earned or not. In superman's case, there is never anykind of method for that. Other than sunbathing thing. And superman's powerlevel is inconsistent. Furthermore, it's not like darkseid one shot. He just punched him and clark was already up ready for a fight. Batman can get punched by ras. Doesn't mean ras and batman can't go toe to toe with each other.

I always saw lobo and doomsday superman's best foes in terms of foils and intentional parallels of flying brick. Lobo is what happens what superman becomes as a crude bully and outright sociopathic murderer with no hope to get respect from others. Doomsday is Superman's Id and primal force to use his powers to represent destruction and chaos, to become a mindless powerful force with no interest in peace or survival.

No wonder Superman hates these two the most. He can at least reason and calm down when facing down darkseid. The former 2, they are always pissing off superman because their his darkest perversions of his power.

    3. Lex Luthor - An egocentric man who is jealous of Superman. Luthor would/has killed hundreds of civilians in his war with Superman and the Justice League.

    2. Darkseid - Space Hitler. But unlike General Zod (who is also a space Hitler), Darkseid has the infrastructure, longevity and power to seize victory in his encounters with the Man of Steel. And Darkseid isn't even Superman's villain, he's Orion and the New Gods'.

    1. Brainiac - Ruthless and murderous. Brainiac has destroyed thousands of worlds across the universe. Acting as judge, jury and executioner on his own self-asserted whims. Taking trophies of every conquered and destroyed world as mementos of his horrible campaigns.

Actually, Darkseid is more of totalitarian than a dictator. Apocalypse has a state and functioning politcal system. Its messed up. But, the people itself choose darkseid. Without darkseid, the world will crumble. See, Darkseid and apocalypse should be something that clark could never comprehend or understand.

See, an authoritarian dictor seek to have absolute authority over his subjects. They want them to bow before him as secondary beings. To stand on top of them. A totalitarian seek absolute control, they seek to manipulate everything. They may or may nit care for making people bow.So, i would say darkseid is more stalin than hitler. Zod taking the other end as authoritarian dictator.

Mongul should definitely be at the top of this list. He wipes out entire worlds.
