Congratulations to this series. I have fond memories of watching their adventures on VHS as a kid.

They were already old when I was watching them on TV back in the 80's. Enjoyable when you are an adult too watched them on Cartoon Network. Loved it so much.

As a kid I knew that Tom & Jerry came in four varieties:

The Good - the original MGM cartoons by Hanna and Barbera

The Weird - the Gene Deitch ones with the jerky animation and dissonant modern jazz soundtracks

The Meh - The Chuck Jones ones; kind of entertaining but not as much as the originals

The Lame - The made-for-TV cartoons in the 70s when Jerry wore a necktie and he and Tom were friends. (No violence allowed.)

They are not really tom and jerry spoofs. Itchy and scratchy are spoofs of herman and katnip. Herman and katnip are less animated due to a smaller budget but have some really dark jokes and katnip is dead by the end of many of them! One ends with them using katnips dead body for target practice at shooting range in a arcade! Yes katnip is a copy of tom and jerry but can be worse!

Here is a more tame one. (yes they are using his dead body as a Christmas tree!)

They had comics also. The comics are really toned down.
