He would, and I don't think he is a fool. But evidently the comish has said if teams don't get their act in order, Monday's the day for shutdown. Seems like I called it...if he pulls the trigger.

Yeah, with Miami and St. Louis already with multiple positive cases, if a third team has multiple positives, Manfred will cancel the season, or at least suspend it. But if the season is shortened to fifty or forty games, how short a season can you have and still call it a season?

Yeah, Manfred told TV affiliates to have alternate programming ready as soon as monday. So that could be the day.

The whole season was stupid. Players didn't want a bubble. They shouldn't have been given an option. Travel was always going to be a bad idea.

Manfred also made a comment about MLB not being quitters, so the season might not be as at risk of shutting down as initially believed.

Mariners lost in extras last night. They had a runner on 2nd with no outs in the bottom of the 9th and couldn't score a run. So they had their chance to walk if off, and blew it. I still hate hate hate the automatic runner on second to star the inning in extras. The A's scored their runner, the M's couldn't in the 9th or the 10th. Still hate it.

Manfred doesn't want to shut down the season. He desperately wants to get in as many of the 60 games for each team as he can. But he's also realistic to know that if too many teams have too many positive tests for covid 19, he'll have no choice but to shut it down.

My Phillies will finally take the field tomorrow for the first time since last Sunday when they face the Yankees up in the Bronx. However, with Tropical Storm Isaias churning up the coast, Tuesday’s game figures to be in jeopardy.

Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez has been shut down for the season. He had tested positive for COVID before the second spring training and now has developed myocarditis (inflammation in the heart) which doctors believe is related to having had the COVID virus infection, and that as many as 10-20% of those infected develop this condition as a complication of having had the virus.

I think there’s a manager (don’t remember from what team) who also has a heart ailment, so I’m guessing he’s worried about his health too.

Cespedes (sp?) of the Mets vanished, panicking the team, who couldn't contact him when he failed to turn up at the stadium, and the team found out after the game, after sending a security team to his hotel only to find him and his stuff gone. Turns out he decided to opt out, and couldn't be bothered to pick up a phone. His decision, but he should have told them; they seemed quite concerned he was all right.

Cespedes was notorious for being an odd duck, still, that stunt he pulled was the epitomy of foolishness.

It's Monday and there's still a season, even if games are still not being played.

The Marlins have played 3 games.

Cardinals have 13 positive tests between players and staff. Games cancelled.

MLB also cancelled the Field of Dreams game next week.

Well, my Phillies took the field last night for the first time since July 26th, but came up short in a 6-3 loss to the Yankees.
