It's interesting how his powers have evolved over the years, from some sort of vibratory stuff that *can* cause earthquakes, to a straight-up geokinetic (which is 100% a different power entirely). On the one hand, cool, and I like the second powerset more anyway, on the other hand, there's already Magma, Petra and Avalanche in that earth-control niche (and it was apparently a common enough mutant powerset that Genosha was pumping out 'earthmovers' back in the day for industrial use), and nobody doing the vibratory / motion / kinetic thing, that I can think of, so that feels like a missed opportunity, changing him from something unique to something we've got a bunch of.

On the upside, he's not a telepathic telekinetic, so it's all good.
Avalanche, Avalanche II and Arclight all do the vibrations = earthquakes thing. So does Quake but she's an Inhuman

Avalanche isn't a full on geo-kinetic the way Rictor is now.

even if Rictor's profile isn't elevated by being an External I don't think it'll be diminished. Worst case , its a lil quirk of continuity we can look back on down the line

plus I want to see him rubbing elbows w/ Selene and Candra lol

I never realized it until I listened to the latest Xplain the X-men podcast, but Rictor has had wildly different looks across various runs. Its like everytime he reappears, they decide to give him a different look. The current one is probably the most extreme departure

That's right, and also Magma is not a full geokinetic, she only controls molten rock aka lava, and we've only seen Petra in like what?, 5 appearances?, so there are not that many geokinetics out there

Yeah he's been kind of all over the place with his looks.

I feel like that's a common problem with "average" looking male characters with brown hair and brown eyes. Different artists will interpret that differently rather than a character who has a more distinctive look. I actually like that his hair style varies over the years depending on what's fashionable. I'm glad that mustache didn't last though.

I love his current look. Probably his best although I would incorporate his former punk elements into it somewhat.

I would frame Magma mutation ad geothermal manipulation, Petra was called a geomorph- while she controls earth, her abilities really seem to branch out in her ability to create things and manipulate the earth into other substance like making coal diamonds.. I think Rictor could be broad geokinetic with powers that kind extend to plant life while Avalanche and few others have vibration based powers.. I think there is room for everyone in most power sets if we let folks specialize in things

Yeah, he doesn't necessarily have a visual 'hook' like a glowing eye, face tattoo or weird-colored hair (or assume some distinctive body of metal or ice or whatever), so it seems like every artist tries to jazz him up with their own ideas, and it has resulted in him changing the most over the years, as each new artist yaws him off in a wild new direction.

I definitely think he looks better with short hair and no terrible pornstache.

Oh gosh yes. For some reason I thought A would be his anchor because of their growing closeness and connection. However, forgot that Shatterstar used Rictor as his anchor to teleport. Oh good, it'll happen sooner than later! Very excited!
