Judging from the Box Office? Yeah. People thought that this was going to be a Toy Story movie. Others thought that this was going to show Star Command characters.

I don't know looking at some of these animated movies it seems to be doing ok. Peoples expectations due to the Toy Story stuff is understandable though. I mean cars 3 only made 152 million domestic.

Who said the movie is CG? He looks like Andy and his family did in the Toy Story movies. In their universe, it's live-action.

I don't think one can really draw that conclusion at all, it seems like a huge reach.

I assume a poster like this needed as soon as possible some imaginary Disney-sized relief like Lightyear from being kept up at night by the grooming woke gods sending dreams of being beat up by hundred-million-dollar-filled pillows wielded by, for one recently, the Jurassic World Dominion aviator co-lead lady who lusted after Claire (while black! just for the hell of it). And for another, America Chavez's 2 mothers in Doc Strange 2 not being treated as anything remotely weird or threatening that would harm other peoples' lives, compared to the actual monsters and villains in the movie that would actively chase and torment other people.

Who said the movie is CG? He looks like Andy and his family did in the Toy Story movies. In their universe, it's live-action.
Then make it live action. It's in 2022 fancy cg claiming to be a mid 90s film. You want to do that then stick with it. You don't mske a "it's a 80s animated film" then use cg. You use animation that looks like the 80s or it breaks the illusion.

Should of just said it was a modern day reboot in andys world. Trouble solved.

don't think one can really draw that conclusion at all, it seems like a huge reach.
From what they were talking about the three things were--

    1. People were confused. The it's a movie in andys world was nowhere on any of the trailers or tv spots so people just saw a realike buzz in space. Some thought it was a toy story main film. Others were confused. This is true as i did have to explain that to my sister who was confused by the trailer.

    2. Solo--some just wasn't asking of a movie in a movie buzz film or liked the 90s cartoon more and just didn't care to see it.

    3. disney plus--a big box office predictor called out lightyear would do less before release as bob "has people trained that pixar is direct to video" and goes on plus for free. Guess what one of the most trended questions was when it launched? "is lightyear on disney plus?" Disney and bob has no one but themselves to blame for this part.

The three combined hurt this film.

Technically, In-universe Buzz was a toy created as merch for Star Command. This film is supposed to be the origin for the Buzz from Star Command.

However, promotion have since said this movie exists in Toy Story and Andy supposedly watched it as it was a film version of Star Command (bit like how 80s animated series often had big screen movie versions- Transformers, GI Joe etc)

So that's what it is supposed to be.

But Andy and the other humans in the Toy Story movies aren't live action.

Top Gun and Jurassic Park are both leading Lightyear in the dailies.

Warner Bros’ Baz Luhrmann-directed Elvis has grossed $3.5 million from all previews off 3,400 locations, which includes Tuesday fan events and Thursday night’s showtimes. Meanwhile, Universal/Blumhouse’s The Black Phone took in $3 million from showtimes that began at 5 p.m. yesterday at 2,800 sites.

Top gun first place again has been blocked by elvis who overperformed! Looks like the two will fight over 1st!

In an amazing feat for an adult-skewing, 2 hour and 39 minute running movie at the box office, Warner Bros’ Baz Luhrmann directed Elvis is heading toward an estimated $31.5M opening, looking to truly top the box office.

Outside of superhero tentpoles like Spider-Man: No Way Home at 2 hours and 28 minutes, lengthy movies have largely seen their openings capped during the pandemic, i.e. House of Gucci at 2 hours and 38 minutes did a 3-day of $14.4M while West Side Story at 2 hours, 36 minutes opened to $10.5M.

In addition, it’s an embarrassment of riches for most of the majors this weekend as at least four movies look to clear $20M+ apiece.
    Lightyear update--

Disney’s second weekend of Lightyear stands between $17M-$19M, in 5th place. If it clears $20M, it will be the first time in six years that five movies have cleared that benchmark at the weekend B.O. The last time was July 22-24, 2016, and that’s when Star Trek Beyond led with a $59.2M opening, Secret Life of Pets second with a third weekend of $29.6M, Lights Out opening with $21.7M in third, Ice Age: Collision Course debuting with $21.3M and the second weekend of Ghostbusters with $21M. All in, this weekend is amounting to an estimated $138.2M, which is off 32% when compared to the corresponding weekend 25 in 2019 (which happened to be Father’s Day weekend) and -9% off when compared to the weekend after Father’s Day. But four or five titles over $20M each — exhibitors and studios will certainly take it.

It's the show people watch after they get done watching the stuff they actually came to Hulu to watch.
Whatever the reason for watching it, Bob's Burgers is on it's 12th season with around 226 episodes in total, so it's doing something right.

I saw that movie and it was very enjoyable.

Welcome to the billion club top gun.

    https://deadline.com/2022/06/top-gun...nt-1235052186/

Also. We have two first places! Both elvis and top gun tied for first!

That's rare. They are going to count mondays box office to break the tie.

Also 4 films made over $20m this weekend and lightyear $17m. Ticket sales were close to pre virus sales as well.

No word on gijoe the movie and 5th elements re-release yet.

In a bizarre box office battle, “Elvis and “Top Gun: Maverick” have tied for first place, with each film bringing in $30.5 million over the weekend.

“Elvis” and “Top Gun: Maverick” were locked in a close battle all weekend as the King of Rock and Roll took the No. 1 spot on Friday and dropped to second place on Saturday. The final results will be tallied on Monday.

Overall, it’s an encouraging weekend at the box office as five movies are putting up sizable results. Four — “Elvis” and fellow newcomer Universal’s Blumhouse thriller “The Black Phone,” as well as holdovers “Top Gun: Maverick” and “Jurassic World Dominion” each grossed $20 million or more, while a fifth, Disney’s Pixar film “Lightyear,” came close with $17 million.

Moreover, those ticket sales wouldn’t be far off from pre-COVID projections. Those healthy box office returns come as audiences have reportedly started to feel safer than ever going to their local cinema. According to a study by the National Research Group, 88% of moviegoers are “very or somewhat comfortable” going to the movies — marking a new all-time high. Around a year ago, that percentage was closer to 59%.

    Hollywood had a good weekend.

    Next up the minions.
