Anyway almost all or all movies make their money back in the long run after leaving the the big screen.
Some do it faster then others.
The problem with Disney in that regard is, that they put their movies after they leave the big screen on Disney Plus. And Disney Plus is loosing money.
So marvel Studios might make the money back, with what they get from Disney Plus, but Disney Overall still loses money.

That's differnt from Studios like Sony or Lionsgate, who just licence their movies to other services like Netflix or Prime Video.

My understanding is that many movies used to make nearly as much again on the home release, but streaming money is nowhere near as lucrative.

Godzilla -1 evidently cost....$15 million not including marketing, and is getting very positive reviews from the very same Youtubers who mostly hate everything save One Piece and sundry small movies. Maybe Disney, WB, and the rest should study how Toho did it, (seems to be a case of a very passionate fan of the materiel who was also an experienced writer and director with little to no studio interference). Quite the opposite of what Iger is saying about The Marvels.

One thing that will hurt godzilla is no dub. On another site that have had people report people they know were planning to see it and got refunds when they found out it was sub only! Kind of surprised they have no dub version.

That will hurt its box office in america.

There is no possible way that Godzilla-1 has a budget of only $15 million. Sounds like a mistaken report that gets repeated.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Japanese industry is so weird. Hollywood can release dubbed movies in every language at same day but Japan is still 50 years behind

A lot of this is goal post moving and making bad faith arguments. The article goes back to films per-saturation point. Killers of the Flower Moon and Napoleon along with most of Apple's prestige work is to launch it's streaming service. It isn't 3-D chess it's a company that is spending large amounts of money to bring in regular viewers.

Hunger Games, Taylor Swift, Barbie, and the Beyonce concert are all selling because that;s what women want. They don't want the Marvels...they've been saturated with identity politics super hero shows/movies that they didn't want but Disney produced.

Apple TV is not "launching", it has been around for almost 5 years. It gets it viewers by giving everyone a free limited subscription when they buy an Apple product. It has been around as long as Disney+.
So does the Marvels count as subscription bait the way the Apple movies do? Who is moving the goal posts here?

Apple TV is 100% still launching...they release a couples hours of content every week. They don't even have a basic interface up yet because the library is so small. Disney on the other hand has lost 200 billion with b dollars this year. Disney+ might not be around in 2 years and they are going to have to crawl back to Netflix.

    That's a very silly prediction.

Not really Hulu/Disney+ are merging at the end of the year. MAX is now selling it's content to Netflix. And Disney lost a quarter of a trillion dollars this year.

???? Hulu merging with Disney plus is a great idea. It makes it a massive streaming service plus people can get live tv to boot.

It's not great when you have to combine brands because your own brand was shedding so many subscribers. This is a cost cutting measure on Disney's part to go along with the content purge and the stock collapse. Here's a question for you...what is Disney releasing next year direct to the service. No big movies, most of the TV shows are either shot or animated.

Apple TC started the same year as Disney+. How are they "still launching"?
So Disney bundling with another of it's properties shows it is failing.
But Apple joining another service that is losing subscribers is good business?

    https://appleinsider.com/articles/23...scriber-losses

Apple TC has about 25 million paid subscribers, double that with the people who get it free with an Apple product.
Disney now has over 150 million, all paid.
But it's Disney that will be gone in 2 years?
    What foolery!

There is no goalpost moving. Apple is not a movie studio like Disney. Apple does make movies for it's streaming service and sometimes they put them in theaters so they can maybe attract more viewers to Apple TV+ AND maybe get them an Academy Award.
Netflix did that for Glass Onion, and lets not forget Apple bought Coda for 25 million and only released it in 3 countries and made a little under 2million and put it on TV+. So is Coda a Flop? Glass Onion?
