Only thing I see in the Media is how people think AMC is trying to sabotage the film.

And the crazy thing is that Angel Studio CEO had to come out to say that AMC isn't sabotaging the movie.

Angel Studio had to come out and say it because some people were shooting videos and claiming that AMC cinemas were hot or something

Honestly, social media is showing how weird human beings really are.

    Update from box office mojo.

Elemental earned $999,312 on Sunday, below $1 mil. It will probably earn less than $1m per day from now on.

But That is okay. It already got over $145 million. It is still showing in 2000 theaters until this Friday. If it stays in fewer than 2,000 theaters for more than 2 weeks, it might make a little over $150 million.

International box office is doing better and is still going strong . Outside of North America, South Korea has the biggest box office gross for Elemental. It won't show up in Japan until August 4.

It might make to $500 million like Kung Fu panda 3, which turned a profit for the Dreamworks. Elemental better reach $350 million in the international box office. So the worldwide box office will be a little over $500 million.

Right now, Elemental's international box office is $250,869,368. It still needs to make one more million dolllars.

    Kung Fu Panda 3

    DOMESTIC (27.5%)
    $143,528,619
    INTERNATIONAL (72.5%)
    $377,642,206
    WORLDWIDE
    $521,170,825

Little Mermaid made less than $80,000 in North America box office this Sunday. Perhaps it will make less than $50,000 per day on the next weekend.

TLM is still showing in 200 theaters left. By the time the film leaves the last theaters , it won't reach the $300 million dollar mark.

Current DOMESTIC box office is $296,908,134.

$564,136,298 worldwide. That isn't much of a profit for Disney but at least it is enough to cover the production costs and marketing costs.

Edit--mermaid returning to theatres in the Philippines with a sing along version. Now they can read skuttlebutts word on the screen while they cover their ears.

That is good to hear. But despite the return to the theaters in the Philippines, I don't think TLM is going to reach the mark of $600 million worldwide. It has made less than $570m today.

Pixar's Elemental Set to Break $400M at Box Office

Pixar's Elemental holds over Barbenheimer weekends and will soon break $400M at the box office as eyes now look to Asia and international markets.

Against its reported $200 million budget, Elemental may be looking at beating the odds and breaking even in a few more weeks. According to Luiz Fernando on X (formerly Twitter), Elemental has grossed $145 million domestically and $250 million internationally, taking its global box office figure to around $395 million
Pixar must be in ecstasy that the box office revenue is double that of the production budget. They must be relieved to know that they won't lose any money or owe debts.

Owe debts? You make it sound like one failed movie could throw the studio into financial disaster. I’m sure the company isn’t so poorly run that they spend everything they make and are living movie to movie. I’m sure they have enough money in the bank as well as income from other sources that they could survive multiple flops if they had to without going into debt.

Yeah , Disney isn't Cannon Films in the 1980s (which the documentary is awesome folks to watch) where they had a couple box office bombs and the studio went down due to it. Disney can take a few bombs along the way as they have in the past. Indy 5 will be the one they take a hit on. But they have did decent with Guardians of Galaxy 3 and Little Mermaid (it will do some profit).

No idea if they will break even with Elementals or not.

    Exactly.

It's been said on these forums multiple times that movies are just a part of Disney's portfolio. Ultimately, they are more like Amazon and Apple in that movies and tv isn't exactly their core business even if it's a big part of it.

Disney is the only studio that self-funds their movies 100%. They likely do that because of the cash they generate from other sources.

This article has a good quote from Tony Chambers, Disney’s head of theatrical distribution,
‘Elemental’ was written off as a box-office flop. Then it sprouted legs

“We more than anyone can leverage our theatrical IP across all the various lines of business,” Chambers said. “We never look at it solely through the eyes of just box office.”
