GoTG 3 has made $660 million worldwide in 3 weeks.

Again, this is why people shouldn't conclude on a movie's performance just after a single weekend. Box office doesn't work like that.

As for Fast X, it's global opening is really impressive, I didn't think there was still that much interest in the movie. That being said, it has some stiff competition next week with The Little Mermaid opening. Lots of buzz around that one and the new Ariel figure (in Halle Bailey's likeness) was a number 1 best-seller on Amazon.https://www.rollingstone.com/product...ll-1234725117/

Fast X should be a hit but that $340 million budget is absolutely ridiculous.

There seriously cant be any movie series made by Hollywood that has these differences between domestic and worldwide than the Fast and furious franchise lol.

Are those Hollywood movies? I wouldn’t think so. I mean, yeah of course things made in other countries (and especially in a language other than English or Spanish) wouldn’t necessarily be big in the US.

True but fast films are "another countries movies" outside the us.

They do well outside japan in many countries.

    News--

Looks like raiders of the lost ark is returning to theatres.

Land before time is in a $5 matinee saturday in select theatres.

They are having the "animation summer" again this summer. Shrek 2, croods 2, sing, boss baby, and--mummies (???) are among the films this year.

Kiki is returning to theatres in a few weeks.

Raiders of the Lost Ark is part of the Fathom events and at my local Emagine Theater and it will only play on June 4th and June 7th.

    Ya I definitely understand that.

Exactly this, sure the fine details are different but they are all pretty thread bare and just there enough to string together the various stunts.

I was watching something today and it was interesting because nowadays a lot of box office analysis is just about narratives.

When Avatar the Way of Water opened, a lot of people were talking about its budget and how much it needed to make to be a hit. Heck, some of the culture warriors called it a flop because people didn't want to watch "DiSneY WoKe MoVIes". With Fast X, not many folks are actually doing the same analysis.

It's interesting because Avatar and Fast X cost almost the same thing (Way of Water cost $350m while Fast X cost $340m). It was similar to the comparisons between Black Adam and Eternals and how folks screamed Eternals was a flop after its first weekend and didn't do the same with Black Adam.

Funny enough, The Lion King is actually an animated movie.

Everything in the "live action film" was animated.

100 percent correct Username. See what is happening is there is an overt culture war and then a sort of culture war that tries to disguise itself. The entertainment media things like twitter, u tube, Facebook ect have all these people who look at box office. But behind 80 percent of them is a narrative. What is happening is if Disney movie A doesn't do well ( insert any Disney movie here) its a massive story.

If any other studios whatever movie and im not talking about some huge movie that wasn't suppose to do well but these people online just blow it off. Disney can have 8 movies make 700 million in a year. What are these people gonna talk about? The two that didn't.
