    Box office--

    WW84 drops 67% in america.

Also the roku glitch where some roku owners can't watch ww84 on hbo max (it's the only movie that does not work!) is still there two weeks later! WB has not fixed it yet!

    Top 5 this week---

We’re building out the top 10 chart for Jan. 1-3, 2021:

    1.) Wonder Woman 1984 (WB) 2,151 theaters/$5.5M (-67%)/Total: $28.5M/Wk 2

    2.) Croods: A New Age (Uni) 1,751 theaters (+25), 3-day: $2.18M(+25%), Total: $34.5M/Wk 6

    3.) News of the World (Uni) 1,928 theaters (+28), 3-day: $1.69M (-25%)/Total: $5.4M/Wk 2

    4.) Monster Hunter (Sony) 1,807 theaters (-10), 3-day: $1.25M (+11%)/Total: $6.3M/Wk 3

    5.) Fatale (Lionsgate) 1,183 theaters (+15), 3-day: $700K (+6%), Total: $3.09M/Wk 3

Soul is still doing good overseas and is doing well in china where it jumped up 149% from last week.

oul is having an uplifting run in China. After debuting last frame to $5.5M, the animated original saw daily increases from Tuesday forward and a sophomore session of $13.7M — a 149% jump from the debut. The local cume is now $25.7M based on terrific word of mouth. This weekend it had the highest per-show averages of the local Top 10.

It’s estimated the film could do a little over $50M in the market, an impressive number given Pixar films tend not to overindex there save for Coco. If it surpasses Incredibles 2’s $54M, it would become Pixar’s second biggest-grosser in China after Coco.

In total, Soul posted an estimated $16.5M from the same 10 markets in which it bowed last session, plus South Africa which was new this weekend. That’s a 114% hike from opening. Increases were also seen in Singapore (+77%), Ukraine (+59%), Thailand (+54%), Saudi Arabia (+52%), Vietnam (+47%), Taiwan (+18%) and Malaysia (+15%).
    Demon slayer update---

Meanwhile, in Japan, Demon Slayer The Movie: Mugen Train was No. 1 for the 12th frame in a row, staying essentially on par with last weekend when the anime adaptation officially surpassed 2001’s Spirited Away as Japan’s highest-grossing title ever. The current market estimate is 34.6B yen ($337M). We will update with official figures on Monday.

But again, I don't really give a **** what drum you have to bang for movie theaters. I don't even know why I keep posting, because I genuinely do not care what you think about the safety of movie theaters vs grocery stores.
They are a concern, I never said they weren't, but there are strategies that mitigate these concerns which is what I have been saying...and they are strategies that seem to be working as again there have not been mass cases associated with movie theaters, not here in the US and not world wide.

Wonder Woman has an IMDB score of only 5.5 out of 10, which is less than Mulan's 5.6. It isn't just the pandemic, people are just not liking the movie.

Tom and jerry made $4m on friday and heading for $12.5m. Second best in america behind croods 2.

    https://deadline.com/2021/02/tom-jer...ic-1234702484/

Went with my niece to see it in theatres. (first time in theatres in over a year and a half!) They did a great job with safety. (rows skipped, only groups near each other, masks, etc.)

The place was packed! I was shocked how many people were there Even at half full the tom and jerry showing was packed!

As for tom and jerry, it was fun. Not roger rabbit good but still a fun family film. Some fun parts and the main human girl is really likeble.

There were people laughing at our showing and kids getting excited at the big climax!

So for me it's not bad. Not pixar level; but fun waste of a afternoon.

It does show people will go back to the movies! At least here in our city!

    Also--

And more records broke by demon slayer movie! It's breaking records in more counties! Also i went to my books a million to get the first volume to read the manga and vol 1 to 3 are sold out! They also had a demon slayer display in the main hall!

This film needs to get a full release here and not a crappy fathom events release!

Family films are winning the box office!

    https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/ne...with-13-7m-bow

Tom & Jerry made a number of friends at the weekend box office with a North American debut of $13.7 million from 2,475 theaters and a global total of $38.8 million through Sunday.

Domestically, the feature film about the iconic alley cat and pesky mouse who are frenemies scored the second-best three-day launch of the pandemic behind fellow Warner Bros. release Wonder Woman 1984 ($16.7 million), and of 2021, as more cinemas reopen across the country.

The strong debut of the family pic — at least in the COVID-19 era — is a good sign for Hollywood as New York City theaters prepare to open on March 5 (Los Angeles remains closed). It's also a win, at least in the short term, for Warners' policy of opening its 2021 titles simultaneously in theaters on HBO Max.

Roughly half of the country's cinemas remain closed, according to best estimates.

Directed by Tim Story and based on the cartoon characters of the same name created by William Hanna and Joseph Barbera, Tom & Jerry's live-action cast is led by Chloë Grace Moretz.

Family products dominated the chart. Universal and DreamWorks Animation's The Croods: A New Age fell just 30 percent even with competition from Tom & Jerry. Croods 2 grossed $1.2 million in its 14th outing from 1,1912 locations for a domestic haul of $52.4 million and $156.2 million globally.

The competition for kids will heat up further when Disney debuts Raya and the Last Dragon on March 5 both in cinemas on Disney+ for a $30 upcharge.

Disney and Pixar's Soul has crossed $100 million at the foreign box office — it was only available on Disney+ in the U.S. — for a total of $111.7 million in ticket sales.

Raya and tom and jerry expected to do good this weekend.

    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...nto-box-office

Boxoffice projects the market will increase 30 to 45 percent from last weekend when the top ten generated $19.7 million, led by Tom & Jerry‘s $14.1 million start and continued strong holdovers from most titles.

Raya on track to make less then they expected. (and yes disney plus acccess is getting a big blame.)

    https://deadline.com/2021/03/raya-an...ey-1234708406/

At the same time new yorks movies have boomed open!

The New York DMA exploded last night at the box office with NYC theaters returning after a 50 1/2 week pandemic closure with an estimated gross of $307K, +614% from last Friday according to B.O. sources. I’m also told that the NY DMA was easily the No. 1 market in the country last night, followed by Salt Lake City, Dallas, Phoenix, Chicago, Houston, Denver, Minneapolis, Detroit and Montreal.
