    $9,6m for wed night showings.

Expected to make around $20m weekend. $30m if it really takes off.

That’s really good considering the pandemic and the fact it’s streaming already.

GVK makes another $6.7m thursday. Up to $16.3 m so far.

“Godzilla vs. King” is stomping to a massive opening weekend at the box office (by pandemic standards). The Warner Bros. film added another $6.7 million on Thursday, bringing its two-day domestic total to $16.3 million.

Through Sunday, the movie could make between $30 million to $40 million in ticket sales. That would easily rank as the biggest opening weekend of the coronavirus era.

To date, “Wonder Woman 1984” has notched the best three-day start of the pandemic with $16.7 million. The superhero sequel opened on Christmas Day, in theaters and on HBO Max, and ended its theatrical run with $45.8 million in the U.S. and $165 million globally. In 2021, “Tom and Jerry” has the title for the biggest opening weekend with $14 million. The animated family film has since generated $37 million at the domestic box office and $48 million internationally.

It will be interesting to see how GvK does in Japan.
There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

See, this is evidence that if BW were released or in early May, that the movie would be a really big hit and make its money back in the worldwide box office. Not quite sure why Disney wanted to still push back a couple months. It would have been a hit regardless. GVK is proof that the BO is starting to come back to healthiness.

GVK may make almost the same opening weekend as king of the monsters did during the pre-virus!

That's pretty funny thinking about it.

Maybe theaters should start making a little shrine to Warner, the increasingly bigger debuts in North America belong to their movies. For that matter they also have the bigger Hollywood grossers globally (Tenet and GvK) released during the pandemic. Disney releasing BW in May might have broken their streak. Cruella could surprise and still do the job... but I notice it opens along with Paramount's A Quiet Place II. Hmmm.

Sony probably has the numbers of the people who watched it here on Netflix. Maybe there just isn't that big an audience to spend ad dollars.
