I heard the projection of black widow may go up to 140 million. which will be ground breaking for a female comic film. although I am too tired to see or check how much captain marvel made on opening weekend.

Captain Marvel made $153 million opening in North America, WW made $103 million. So anything over $100 is great for BW.

The 140 million opening weekend projection is for worldwide box office, not for domestic. Worldwide projection is comparably low because China is not included as the movie doesn't start there yet. So the movie is supposed to make 90 million domestic and 50 million in the rest of the world.

That’s expected because of the pandemic.

I think a lot of analysis is just skipping over the fact that a lot of cinemas in Canada aren’t even open (domestic figures includes Canada).

Any movie that can open between $80 and $100m is pretty much a mega hit at this time.
