Eh, it's not that it was a sports joke...it's that it just wasn't that funny.

Space jam comes in first place with $31.6m. BW makes another $25m as well.

Space Jam was always going to be very expensive.

LeBron alone would have commanded a hefty fee talk much less of the CGI in the film.

If not for the pandemic, it would have opened up a lot more than it did. Im not sure many parents will risk taking their kids to the cinemas considering the risk of infection particularly with the delta variant spreading rather rapidly.

That means it's something you see when it gets to the cheap theatre or when the streamer doesn't charge extra.
The MCU is getting tired, Cap is gone, Stark is gone. I think a lot people has lost interest in the MCU.

Heck, with the new multiverse opening up I'd be very surprised if there weren't new Iron Man and Cap films with entirely different actors in the not too distant future. Whether they'll hit or not I can't say, but they'll be back for sure.

I think part of the huge drop for BW has to do with the character being dead. Ppl kinda already know the story is over. The Loki finale had bigger implications for the MCU than this.

Do you have any evidence of this?

The huge drop is due to streaming, the pandemic, ect. No movies are doing well. Her being alive or dead has nothing to do with anything. There are no movies making big money. MCU or not MCU.

    Exactly.

    And theatre owners are furious.

The theatre association didn't hold back at all. They went ballistic on Disney.
