New Mutants: why does Bobby dislike Doug?

We see in the original New Mutants run and a little in the current run that Bobby really doesn't like Doug, and it seems to be Bobby who is determined to make an issue of it. Now, we have all met someone who just rubs us the wrong way, but there is never a reason for Bobby's disdain. I have theories about this relationship, but I'd like to hear what you guys think. Why does Bobby hate Doug?

If you're talking about Claremont's run, I'd have to go back and check. But, take my word for it, Bobby really doesn't like Doug.

I share your opinion.

IIRC, Berto called Doug 'coward' on panel several times. My personal theory is Berto was raised mainly in a macho-alpha-entrepeneur-preponderant environment, so he finds that male individuals who don't seem to care about being predominant nor badass are disgusting.

That's in large part why I like Doug and I dislike Berto. That DOESN'T mean at all that I could think Berto is a bad character, BTW.

....He and Sam were Best friends just like Doug and Warlock are besties. They're different but Bobby doesnt hate him at all. He cried his eyes out when he found out he was killed

He was just a hot headed kid. He's since matured--- well, he's since grown---- okay so he WAS more evolved(?) in New Avengers but has since been hyperbolized for LOLZ in the comedic narrative that is New Mutants. <shrug>

Roberto didn’t like Doug because he’s kind of straight laced and has boring powers, and the girls were incredibly protective of him. Basically jealousy, because Roberto is a wannabe Chad jerk.
