The original Tarantula was a mystery author.

Like the unmentionables you've declared off-liimits, Libery Belle, The Ray, The Creeper, and The Question were all journalists. I'm not certain if the comics made clear whether Roy Raymond (TV Detective) wrote his own stuff for his show, but it seems likely.

If you want to get technical, The Atom (both Ray and Ryan) were authors as having their research published is a requirement for most university scholars. In the Power of The Atom series from the late 1980s, Ray also collaborated on a memoir of his adventures.

You know, it's almost a surprise that Grant Morrison hasn't teamed Kyle Rayner up with a comic book writer to save the multiverse or something by drawing the book the characters are in.

I feel like Maxine Hunkel writes some weird 'n fun fantasy stuff.

Shade the Changing Man was a poet. Loma reads him a lot.

Black Canary wrote some of the songs her band played, I think.

Wonder Girl (Cassie Sandsmark) has a blog. And I'm pretty sure (but could be wrong) that in the New52 Stargirl had a blog as well.

If you're including supporting cast members, then pretty much every love interest from the Golden Age was a reporter.

A character named Dwarfstar is supposedly an amateur poet who wrote a new one for every victim.

Shade the Changing Man was a poet.

Plen-El, of the House of El, was a highly regarded novelist on Krypton.

Duke Thomas is canonically stated to have a talent for creative writing with an interest in film and poetry, could see him becoming a writer eventually.
THE SIGNAL (Duke Thomas) is DC's secret shonen protagonist so I made him a fandom wiki

also, check out "The Signal Tape" a Duke Thomas fan project.

    currently following:
    • DC: Red Hood: The Hill
    • Marvel: TBD
    • Manga (Shonen/Seinen): One Piece, My Hero, Dandadan, Jujutsu Kaisen, Kaiju No. 8, Reincarnation of The Veteran Soldier, Oblivion Rouge, ORDEAL, The Breaker: Eternal Force

Jericho. In New Teen Titans he was described as a poet, artist, and musician (despite the fact he was mute!) and he wrote profiles on each of the team members, which were used when retelling the team's origins (in the context of Danny Chase reading Joey's computer files) after the Crisis on Infinite Earths.

Why would being mute stop you from being a musician?
