Mystique and Carol Danvers: What do they have in common?

I think they both extremely driven, survivors, neither is particularly self aware, both think they are very funny, can be very organized but also very reckless, not good at dealing with the cause of their problems, brave and competent.

I think where they differ the most is that Mystique despite it all is actually a true romantic whereas Carol really isn't.

If the MCU reinvented Mystique as an enhanced Kree operative given Skrull-like shapeshifting powers or even some sort of Kree/Skrull hybrid, it would harken back to Raven’s early days as a Ms Marvel villain reporting to a mysterious boss who was never revealed.

Didn't Claremont reveal it was someone from the Hellfire Club at some point?

And it's amazing how Mystique has evolved over the years from her early appearances on Ms Marvel, and also how Claremont himself made her a much more sympathetic character from the beating-Carol's-boyfriend-with-her-bare-hands murderer she was originally.
