Technically, not the first appearance of Hellboy. But his first appearance for both cover and interior; pre-dating the start of his own series.

    First cover appearance.

There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!

Earlier in this thread, we saw the debut of Black Widow in TOS #52; here's her friend Hawkeye debuting in TOS #57. Which means that three of the original six MCU Avengers started in the pages of Tales of Suspense.

I think restorative nostalgia is the number one issue with comic book fans.
A fine distinction between two types of Nostalgia:

Reflective Nostalgia allows us to savor our memories but accepts that they are in the past
Restorative Nostalgia pushes back against the here and now, keeping us stuck trying to relive our glory days.

Debut of a future member of the X-Factor series. I just noticed that Chris Claremont co-wrote this issue along with Len Wein. This shows how many characters debuted in the FF back in the 60s and 70s.

Lots of FF covers posted, and deservedly so. I'd argue that the initial Kirby-Lee run of FF is tops in Marvel history. Even better than Lee-Ditko on Spider-Man. Dr. Doom, Galactus, Silver Surfer - its the excelsior of excellence!

Wait, I posted a comic strip instead of a cover. I'll find a replacement.
