    Default DCeased: Unkillables #1 Discussion/Spoilers

A new miniseries about this dead universe begins and I must say that I'm glad to see it again.

Tom Taylor opens this story with the idea that some people are not affected by the same virus that infected the entire planet. The reasoning behind Slade's immunity kinda makes sense I guess although I'm not so sure how it works but that's not the point, the point is that this leads to an organization that is willing to fight against the DCeased which allows for a few entertaining moments.

I have a few problems with this group in particular and this comes with the usual issues that Taylor has concerning characterization. For example, Slade sounds a bit too "normal" for my taste when he should be much more serious and calculating, in fact he sounds a bit comical in some points which makes him seem more like Deadshot and this is especially bad because Deadshot is included in the own team. That being said, I like the humour that the Creeper brings to the table.

There's a second team featuring Jason Todd, Jim Gordon and Cassandra Cain as Batgirl, the latter being a bit of a surprise but since this is Taylor's universe, I guess he can include whoever he wants. Taylor manages to make all these scenes really enjoyable with a few compelling moments of characterization, especially the ones about Gordon which reveal that he knows every detail about the Batfamily.

The plot moves at a fast pace as expected from the writer and with the sorta shallow social commentary that you can also expect from him sadly.

Karl Mostert handles the art and is pretty solid with a lot of detail in terms of characters and gory scenes, I would love to see more of his work here.

Despite of some issues, this is a pretty fun beginning. Can't wait for the next one.

Honestly surprised I wasn’t the one to start the thread(I’m kidding), but hey I’m just glad to see other people like this series as well.

As for the issue itself what can I say besides that if you liked DCeased you’ll probably like this. I think it has a lot of good moments for Jason Todd, for not wanting to spoil I will say my favorite moment of his was probably with the Batmobile when they were leaving Gotham. Nice bit of catharsis/fun for Jason if you know what I’m talking about. I didn’t expect Cassandra to just be Batgirl but definitely glad either way to have her here. Also I’m kind of glad that Jason also rescued Ace, never leave a good dog behind...that said I’m now terrified of what Taylor will do that dog as dogs don’t necessarily go well with the zombie apocalypse.

As for Deathstroke, I’m interested in where they go with him given his ability to still be infected but heal and revert back. I think his parts of the story were definitely the creepiest with zombie Man Bat and the Mirror Master scene.

Overall good start to a side tale in the DCeased universe.
"It's fun and it's cool, so that's all that matters. It's what comics are for, Duh."
    Words to live by.

I had no idea this was coming out today so it was a Nice surprise. The story is pretty cool but The art is a major downgrade.
The first part with Deathstroke and The nazis looked okay but The rest was awful, in particular the faces of everyone. I got flashbacks from The Morisson B&R series.

Also, in the cave, that's totally Damian lying next to Bruce and Dick, and not Tim.

Okay good. I thought I was going crazy. He does look A LOT like Damian on that page. For a second I thought this was a different universe from the first DCeased.

I loved the art but I’m a huge fan of Frank Quitely and Burnham’s art style and this was very reminiscent.

Uhm, I didn't like how it looked. But eh, I don't like art like the one they used her (not for this kind of story at least). I found it kind of inconsistent most of the time, and definitelly not eye catching. Colours were kind of bland, too. I liked the first 4 or so pages, though, but I don't know why those felt different. Faces were expresive (and I like that), but they looked a bit, eh, not ugly, but weird. But I enjoyed the story, so I'm going to keep reading for now .
