Agreed. Remember March's X-Men book solicit said that it's an aftermath book from this series. Cosmic Chaos to be sure, including Brood.

I get that but thats other characters and its setup for other plotlines, not necesarily for the NMs. For the NM, they didnt really get much development

If Xavier wanted to set up interstellar Krakoa gateways to other worlds, they should have used Lila Cheney (hell, maybe they are). This was a roundabout way to go about it.

Obviously from PoX, we know that the Shi'Ar empire will be very important to mutants' future survival(wasn't that the highest population of mutants in one of those timelines?). Hickman was just indulging himself in a fun set up for that later story.

I think the plot line is still under development. This arc seemed to be designed to get him into space and separate from the New Mutants so Hickman can have him and Cannonball under his pen. Reading New Mutants solicits and covers going forward he doesn’t seem to be part of the book.
