Who is the best Marvel writer of our time? I'd have to say it's Hickman. Love all of his stuff. I like Slott too. Just not the greatest.

I think this era has a ton of great writers. And we should probably add Ewing to this. Oh, all the trouble those two are going to get into!
Hickman/Ewing
Zdarsky
Cates
Aaron

I'm gonna get downvoted to Hell, but Aaron. No matter how you feel, the guy has done some interesting stuff.
I've found that Brian Michael Bendis and Matt Fraction did the stuff I come back to the most.
Doctor Strange: "You are the right person to replace Logan."
X-23: "I know there are people who disapprove... Guys on the Internet mainly."
(All-New Wolverine #4)
My top three are in order -
1.) Ewing
2.) Cates
3.) Zdarsky
"So you've come to the end now alive but dead inside."
If it's purely a matter of who I happen to think is the best, it's probably Ewing.
If you factor in the ability to actually sell books then probably Bendis or Hickman.
Afterwards let's decide which skunk stinks less. Now that I have gotten that out of my system, I'm going to say "too early".
"The Marvel EIC Chair has a certain curse that goes along with it: it tends to drive people insane, and ultimately, out of the business altogether. It is the notorious last stop for many staffers, as once you've sat in The Big Chair, your pariah status is usually locked in." Christopher Priest
IN Marvel comics,
1) Hickman
2) Aaron
3) Ewing
4) Zdarsky
5) Spencer
1. Hickman
2. Bendis
3. Aaron
Top 3 for me.
Bendis revitalized the Avenger's line and made me love Ultimate Spidey and Hickman took the ball and ran with for a 99 yard touchdown with his high concept sci-fi craziness.
Aaron made Thor relevant and exciting to the point where he is my favorite Marvel character and his Wolverine & The X-Men is amazing.
I’ve gotta add Zub here
“Generally, one knows me before hating me” -Quicksilver
I guess I’ll count the last decade as an era, but here are my top 3:
1) Hickman—easily the Steve Englehart of the current era. His ideas, regardless if they land well or not, are always trying to evolve the comic book tropes.
2) Ewing—if you mix Roger Stern, Chris Claremont, and John Byrne, you’d end up with Ewing. Amazingly epic, with a knack for knowing his continuity, and can capture the characters voices with ease.
3) Cates—mix Jim Starlin with Korvac Saga Jim Shooter, and you’ll get Donny Cates. He’s got a flair for the cosmic, and definitely thinks outside the box, while tying several series into the shared universe.
I have more, I’m just exhausted.
What do you mean "Our Era"? Anyone who's still writing?
Warren Ellis, Grant Morrison, Christopher Priest
My priority is enjoying and supporting stories of timeless heroism and conflict.
Everything else is irrelevant.
Hickman has managed to strike hot on 3 big titles. Hands down.
