Default Best artist of our era?

Just to go alongside the writer thread currently on. Who’s the best artist? I think we really have a great selection at the moment.

My absolute favorite artist is definitely Alex Ross, there's a reason why his paintings go for over 10k and his booth is the biggest artist booth at San Diego Comic Con. He is what inspired me into being a comic book artist.

    Like who's the new hotness?

Cause a case could be made for Dautermann.

Like not only is he an excellent artist, but he is an excellent storyteller and willing to draw less in order to say more (see Thor v Phoenix sequence). He has a mastery of thin lines that rivals Quitely. He can render ethnicities in a way many cannot. He knows fashion and evidently loves the women he draws. He's clearly a comics artist in the ways McKelvie kind of isn't, but still his pencils feel fresh and contemporary.

I'm going to toss Javier Rodriguez and Chris Samnee into the mix.

Once again going with creators who have worked with Marvel, and within the past Five years. My mind jumps to Marcus To, and Gurihiru above any others.
Continuity, even in a "shared" comics universe is often insignificant if not largely detrimental to the quality of a comic.

Pretty regular for me. Cho and McNiven for your more mainstream books.
I will always dig Leandro Fernández on Punisher MAX.

Wonderful story, and I totally agree. Alex Ross was great when he attained super-stardom, and he continues to be great to this very day:
