Default Mutants who should be considered omegas

Hickman published a list of omega level mutants and there were some glaring omissions.

The most obvious one was Professor Charles Francis Xavier. Last time I checked he was the most powerful telepath on the planet. What happened to that?

I would also argue that Magma is an omega. I think you could also make a case for Eva Bell.

Is there anybody else who you think ought to be on the list? Anybody want to disagree with me?

I've said before that classification systems should be done away with entirely, but if they're going to be used, then Magneto being considered omega means Polaris should be too.

Throughout her history, Lorna's been repeatedly referred to as either having the potential to surpass her father, being her father's equal, or having actually surpassed him (albeit at a time when he was weaker). She's also been presented previously as an "opposite pole" to her father in The Twelve and other things, suggesting that at the time she'd be considered equal in power.

The only thing Magneto really has over Lorna is decades more experience, but years of experience doesn't seem to be a criteria of who counts as omega.

Tempus could be Omega. No one with time manipulation abilities like Tempo or Sway has shown to have her variety and power. She can do almost anything.

Now if we count people like Kang maybe she's been surpassed via tech and that is why she's not there? Even though Eva has shown to be able to do whatever Kang has done.

Magma has got a good powerset on paper but she's never been that impressive.

I always thought Stryfe is enhenced version of Exodus... And X-man, he was so powerful years ago, but both of them are not on the new omega list.

I think they avoided alternate versions because it'd be quite a mess.

Legion can do whatever Eva has done with time foolery.

Legion's reality manipulation has a different result than Eva's time abuse.

It's actually kind of perfect that he's not on the list.

Gateway is omniscient and can teleport through time and space and has all the Dreamtime stuff. Someone should have figured out he's essentially a precog. An annoying oversight. Everyone always be sleeping on Gateway.

Thanos. Not sure if he has the X-gene or not but he is easily the most accomplished mutant in Marvel.

He can probably do whatever other characters on this list can too, since he can essentially get any superpower.

Xavier was the top telepath for many years, but both Jean and Quinton have surpassed him. When did it happen exactly? Well Jean was described as the most powerful telepath when Xavier was out of commission though when he was around she was routinely described as the second most powerful. In New X-men both Jean and Quire were said to be omega level mutants. Xavier wasn't described with that distinction.

Though in later years other writers did describe him as omega as well as Emma Frost and Rachel. One writer in an interview said Besty was omega level. But if we are going by the definition of who is at the top of the telepathy classification then perhaps at one time Xavier and Emma were omega level telepaths because both Jean and Xavier were dead and there was a time Quire was out of the picture.

In short though, when it comes to telepathy both Jean and Quire have an upper limit or off the charts power that the other telepaths can't reach.

Mostly I'm ok with the omega list. My complaint back when it was first revealed was there was only one person of color (Storm) and few women in general.

I do think it is a problem when we want to classify all mutants as omega that is what got us into a problem in the first place. It is perfectly fine not to be an omega. Alpha level mutants can still be extremely powerful (see Xavier or Emma Frost, or Jean's telekinesis since it is not omega level).

I think Hickman worries about power creep and he sort of nerfed all the omega mutants by his definition and by having only one of their powers be omega level.

Default mutants who ought to be Omegas

Forgive me if I have repeated a topic. Here's my list of potential Omegas:

    Magma
    Polaris
Rachel Summers (I hate the Prestige code-name. It's dumb.)
    Eva Bell
Hijack (The guy can take over computers which means he could possibly take over the world.)
    Moira X

    Who have I missed?
