I wonder why the swords are going to be required and not some other weapon. If it's Otherworld stuff probably the swords hold some metaphorical powers being magic and stuff.

The weapon that broke Okkara was a sword. Otherworld has Excalibur. Swords have a symbolism that other weapons do not and magic depends a lot on symbolism.

It would be clean and clear but I agree that Hickman will be less obvious. More surprising.

I think the ones “locked” are:

Xavier - cerebrosword
Apocalypse- crucible sword
Betsy- sword of might
Rachel- phoenix sword
Wolverine - “forgot the name of the red sword” sword
Gorgon- “and his sword” sword

It leaves space for three never seen before swords, which makes sense for the suspense of it.
