If anything, it's been shown that people are incapable of placing the same blame on the male characters involved as they have with Wanda. A female character that canonically wasn't in her right mind.

Yeah a lot of people who think genocide is a answer to something, when he could double the food and other things.

Suspiciously so, considering there’s a good chance they knew exactly what Wanda would do (in which case Erik brutally murdered Pietro in front of Wanda to deliberately trigger her)

One thing I will concede to the “burn the witch” crowd is that Jean probably wouldn’t accept a BB-style “apology” and let it be. For better or worse the X-Men can at least from that Black Bolt acted with what he thought were the best interests of his kind, Wanda not so much

Pretty much this, and why I (and others here) brought up Quicksilver's role in this mess. If the Scarlet Witch is going to be painted as the Devil figure for mutantkind, then why isn't Quicksilver getting the same (or at least some) level of hate from them, too? Then again . . . normalized misogyny is one hell of a drug.

A lot of those people tend to be of the mindset that the real world would be "better off" without certain (kinds of) people in it, anyway, so it's relatively reasonable that they'd gravitate to MCU Thanos and his warped philosophy. As for your other points, again, normalized misogyny is a hell of a drug.

Funny thing is that Thanos went for a random method toget ridof life, it was a big plot point taht race or sex or money wouldn't be how he choose to genocide the universe. Even hawkeye was made tha this family was gone but criminals were still alive.

Real life women become pariahs much easier than men. That is why Quicksilver gets forgotten to easy. Ok that house of M was a big event, but he should also get some burden for what he did
And people still thought he was right.

Yeah, at least Thanos was egalitarian in how he wanted to wipe out half of all life in the universe. A lot of the people in the real world I was referring to would have had much more specific targets, whether they'd admit it out loud or not. As to your other point about women in real life (and in fiction, I would add) being condemned far more easily than men, I guess I'll just keep saying it . . . normalized misogyny is a hell of a drug.

Ugh, Shaara and K'yrhri, NO! No panel time for the pretender! They're obviously rewriting the mythology of mutants as the new gods of this planet and reclaiming their destiny in the multiverse going forward. They've obvi appointed The Witch as their lore's 'devil' so let her have that impact on the younger/reborn mutants while Xavier diplomatically delivers her a telegram that simply declares her an enemy of their nation with denied access to it or any of its resources.

As far as people saying having Sinister around is hypocrisy- well, sure, but it's better to have him right under their noses where they can monitor him under the guise of trust rather than have some historically unstable magical nuke who defaults to an anti mutant sentiment everytime she loses her cool, walking around on the island, planting turnips.

That happened once and you're ignoring the circumstances, like a big reason she did was by being manipulated by Quicksilver in a moment of distress. It's not her default, her default is being a hero. Magik has a more consistent history, both being a demon lord of a hell dimension and when she's not being possessed by her demon side, than Wanda ever did. Magik is currently leading an X-Team at the moment.

Cyclops enslaved the world once, as a member in the Pheonix Five. Should he be put on trial for that by Krakatoa?

The are numerous other examples and that's before getting to the genuine villains.

She can just buy turnips from the vendor.

But yeah, it was a one time deal. Those characters are safe.

Quicksilver is despised as well see no more humans, however he was around during decimation we got to see him shunned etc. He also lied and told everyone he was replaced by a Skrull.

Imagine X-fans being anywhere near as upset with the X-Men collaborating with a man once known as the "Nosferatu of Auschwitz" than with the continued existence of a female Romani character...

I wouldn't use Magik or Cyclops as a way to justify what Wanda did. Neither has caused an almost mass extinction of a specific race of people.

I'm not justifying anything, what Wanda did was horribly wrong and this ignores the context of her mental state. She wasn't cackling like an evil villain doing it she was having a mental break down. I bought them up since they've done crimes as well, and what Cyke did was nothing small - he conquered the world. Cyke wasn't in his right mind, either - why isn't he on trial for his crimes? Another instance when he was a mutant terrorist for a while when he joined Magneto, that he did on his own. Like I said, there's numerous X-men who haven't been judged in the court of law by Krakatoa. Their privilege is being X-men and Wanda wasn't. It's a huge double standard.

There are a few reasons for that.

    1. Wanda (and the Avengers) serves as stand-in for the perceived editorial mistreatment over these last 10-15 years. No one really cares about the crimes of Sinister (and others) after those stories were over.

    2. As stated above, no one cares about Sinister and tries to defend his crimes. Not much fun to ****-post on a fictional character if there's no one arguing back, that's just like shouting into the void.

    3. And Hickman has just brought up this subject in-story again now and is apparently looking to either resolve it or continue the "feud".

Not only this but Marvel tends to make Powerful Women mentally ill, evil or not able to handle the power (Dark Phoenix, HoM Wanda)

This cost Jean to be dead for years and Wanda being out of comics until the Children Crussade
