Because unlike Wanda, Scott actually was held accountable by the authorities in story and we had years where he was a fugitive and lambasted by the superhero community for his actions. Wanda was never held accountable. You cant really fairly compare the two in how they were treated after their transgressions. As someone mentioned, Scott was arrested and placed in a maximum security prison before he went on the run and was chased by SHIELD and the Avengers. Wanda was off living her best life

Thats a lie. He tried to apprehend her and take her back to Utopia in CC. He did not try to kill her. Scott was understanding. He let her go instead of forcing the issue once the Life Force crap was revealed

The X-men were prepared to instantly fight then and there when she voluntarily surrendered to them, that's why Magneto has to save her. They had no sympathy for Wanda. And when she asked him that she could help repower mutants Scott told her to not do it, despite the fact she did restore Rictor's powers.

Xavier failed to help Wanda though therapy, as well. Bendis created another Dark Phoenix inspired storyline and people are falling over themselves to burn Jean, I mean Wanda at the stake.
