Default Who's the better liar? Loki or Mephisto?

These are 2 of the greatest liars in history, but who's better? Who's lies have cost the most damage?

Who guard their over bloated paucities of power with money. With false reasoning. With measured hesitance. With prideful, recalcitrant inaction. With hateful invective. With weapons. F@#K these selfish fools and their prevailing world order." Tony Stark

In terms of skill, I'd say Loki, since he managed to trick Mephisto himself in Agent of Asgard.
Mephisto, on the other hand, causes much more damage, especially after Loki's heel turn.

I'd say Loki is a better liar to the point even his truth can be a lie.

I doubt it's as much a matter of which is better, as much as it is a case of which has the better opportunity to work with in any given situation. They're both so skilled, the difference between them is negligible.

Loki is routinely able to pull the wool over the eyes of people that KNOW he's a liar and not to be trusted.

Mephisto on the other hand rarely actually lies. He twists the truth, he leaves out things, and he misleads people left and right but usually what he tells people is true in the technical definition.

Loki falls into the standard bad-guy trope of falling for his own lies (particularly about himself and his 'sense of honor' or whatever). Mephisto seems utterly aware and owns that he is the Bad Man, not 'unfairly treated' or 'misunderstood,' and, IMO, that makes him the more effective liar, in that he doesn't fall for his own line.

OTOH, Loki could turn that around and boast that he can tell a lie so convincing that even *he* believes it.

Loki is the better liar, but Mephisto is the more constant liar. One is merely an advanced mortal race claiming to be a god. A lie in itself, but there's nothing in his DNA to say that Loki has to be a deceitful creature. That he can be good is what makes his lies all the more effective.

Mephisto, on the other hand, is supposed to be evil personified and incarnate, an abstract, elemental entity whose very life force is fomented and sustained by wickedness. Writers try to make him more complex than that by humanizing him in a multidimensional way, but really Mephisto is supposed to lie because he simply has no choice. He should be like Donald Trump to the billionth power when it comes to prevarication. His default state should be either to lie, or say nothing at all. Stating the truth, or even speaking to factual realities should be absolutely painful to Mephisto. But whatever works, I guess.
