Default Newsarama ranks the 10 greatest Flash stories of all time

I haven't always been a consistent Flash reader but I think they did a decent job with this list.

I'm glad Wally is well represented, but I would've liked more from the Messner/Loebs era. But hey, they get bonus points for referencing a Tom Petty song. Opinions?

    10. Human Race ( Morrison/Millar/Ryan/Mhan, The Flash vol. 2 #136-141)
    9. Rogue War (Johns/Porter, The Flash vol. 2 #1/2, #220-225)
    8. Terminal Velocity (Waid/Various Artists, The Flash vol. 2 #95-100)
    7. The Death of Iris Allen (Bates/Saviuk, The Flash vol. 1 #275-284)
    6. Nobody Dies (Messner-Loebs/LaRoque, The Flash vol. 2 #54)
    5. Blitz (Johns/Kolins, The Flash vol. 2 #192-200)
    4. Born to Run (Waid/LaRoque, The Flash vol. 2 #62-65)
    3. The Flash of Two Worlds (Fox/Infantino, The Flash vol. 1 #123)
    2. A Flash of Lightning (Wolfman/Perez, Crisis on Infinite Earths #8)
    1. The Return of Barry Allen (Waid/LaRoque, The Flash vol. 2 #74-79)

That's a pretty good list except Rogue War should not be on there, Terminal Velocity should be higher, Dead Heat probably belongs on there somewhere, and the Jay Garrick single-issue storyline would be my pick from the Morrison/ MIllar era (though I do really like Human Race too). Also, Blitz itself is a good read but I hate the fall out that came from it (JOhns' Barry-ization of Wally with extra tragedy thrown in). Most of the rest of the Johns/ Kollins Flash is better than the two picks here.

Nice list, but where is Flashpoint, and I would also add "Trial of Flash" (The Flash #323-350) by Cary Bates / Carmine Infantino.

    Only 10?

Captain America and Daredevil both have a top 50 list. Even freaking Ironman has a top 25 list. But Flash only 10? And he's been around for 80 years. Looks like they don't do enough research for DC characters.

No you cannot find 50 Must read DD or 25 Unmissable Ironman stories. This is a Hoax.
25 DD ok, 5-10 Ironman maybe.
And if you can read, it's a "top 10" list. Of course you can make a "top 50" list, but that's not the topic of this thread !

Number 10 was not a great story. The ONLY reason it is on there is because of the name Morrison.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Rogue War when I read it. It felt like a Rogues story that clumsily turned into a Reverse-Flash/Zoom story at the end. I would also put Flash of Two Worlds at #1, but that's just me.

Good list, with 9 strong Flash stories there. Disappointing that, like always with these lists, it's a highlight reel of the most famous stories. No hidden gems that the author has come across.

Strongly disagree with Crisis on Infinite Earths #8 - it's not a complete story and it's not a Flash story.

Born to Run was an extremely boring way to start a run and it shouldn't be considered in any way, shape or form. What is especially insulting though is that is above much better stories like Rogue War, Terminal Velocity, Nobody Dies and Blitz.

Other than that, this is a decent list.

The "Barry-ization" of Wally started with Waid actually. The last time Wally had his own voice was during Messner-Loebs' era.

And Johns was the one who came up with the now famous Wally phrase of "The Flash is not about tragedy".
