Default Favorite Songs and their use in Movies

What are your favorite songs in movies, and also the way they were used?

An obvious one is the Rocky song "Gonna Fly Now." It's iconic af for good reason.

I also really like "Everything I Do, I Do it For You" by Bryan Adams in the movie Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I love how they incorporate it to the story.

In terms of Bryan Adams, I think the best use of one of his songs is in DON JUAN DEMARCO, "Have You Ever Really Loved a Woman?" I remember watching that in the theatre and the song just made the whole movie work in a way that it might not have without it.

Yeah, I love that song too.

My favorite music from a film remains Saturday Night Fever. I recently saw a documentary on the making of that movie with John Travolta, Barry Gibb, and just about everyone associated with that film and just hearing those songs and the way they were used in the film made me immediately flash back to junior high school and being in love for the first time. Well, as in love as you can be in junior high school. LOL

Of course, I didn't see the film back then because I was too young, but I saw it years later. But that soundtrack - every kid I knew owned that soundtrack. That music was just intoxicating.

I saw SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER about twenty times in the theatre. I took disco dance lessons because of it. I had posters of John Travolta and the Bee Gees on my walls. Saw the Bee Grees live in concert. That movie gave me life. While all of the songs are great, "How Deep is Your Love?" is the song that carries the most emotional weight.

Oh yeah, Saturday Night Fever with the Bee Gees songs are legendary. Love them too!

Another one is "What a Feeling" from Flashdance. The songs and dancing in this movie are the best part for me..

That's easy, if I'm narrowing it down to a single song/scene. Casino. DEVO. Satisfaction. One of my favorite Scorsese scenes of all time from my favorite film of his. The frenetic pace of the scene and the music going in and out and finally cuts as De Niro turns off the radio. I must have rewound it on VHS 10 times in a row when it came out on video. I'm meh+ on Devo as a whole and I wouldn't listen to that particular track anyway but it works amazingly in that scene.

After that it's a middle of the road favorite, the scene in Pulp Fiction during the meeting of Marsellus and Butch with Let's Stay Together in the background. That movie and Dead Presidents the next year prompted a resurgence in Al Green's music to a whole new younger audience ('THIS GUY') beyond just 'Love and Happiness'. Got a new greatest hits out of it that was one of his most popular albums.
Beefing up the old home security, huh?
    You bet yer ass.

I was a Duran Duran fan back in the 80's, so their theme song for Roger Moore's last 007 film, "A View To A Kill" was, in my opinion, bad ASS!

I didn't much care for the Night Ranger song "Sister Christian" until it was brilliantly used in the best scene in Boogie Nights.

One of my under-appreciated favorites of the 90s, "Welcome Home, Roxy Carmichael" features a great use of a Melissa Ethridge song:

"You are so beautiful" and this scene.. Great combination, IMO. It also plays at the end nicely.

    I didn't much care for the movie Battleship. But one part did come to mind;

Thunderstruck, and AC/DC in general, is just such a "fire you up!" kind of music.

The Doors song "The End" in the movie Apocalypse Now.
    "You address omnipotence. Tread carefully."
