The theme song to SESAME STREET...:

    Sunny Day

    Sweepin' the clouds away

On my way to where the air is sweet

Can you tell me how to get,

How to get to Sesame Street

    Come and play

    Everything's A-OK

    Friendly neighbors there

    That's where we meet

Can you tell me how to get

How to get to Sesame Street

    It's a magic carpet ride

    Every door will open wide

    To happy people like you--

    Happy people like

    What a beautiful

    Sunny Day

    Sweepin' the clouds away

On my way to where the air is sweet

...when I was a kid i’d try and skip that part of the program, as it put me in mind of a funeral dirge (I didn’t know what that was at the time, only that i really didn’t want to hear it), and when I did sit through it I’d always glance towards my living room window (i grew up in NYC so always lived several floors up) thinking I’d see some other kid’s body as it fell by.

    How about This Song

Young Girl by Gary Puckett and The Union Gap

A song about a mans love for an underage girl. Really creepy. I have a very hard time listening to this song because there was a sex offender in prison I was in who would sing this song all the time. it was very bad. Needless to say he had a rough time.
Favorite teams. Alpha Flight, Avengers, Fantastic Four, West Coast Avengers, Justice Society of America, Legion of Superheroes.

Pull List - Lois Lane, Amazing Mary Jane, Black Cat, Doctor Doom, Gwen Stacy, Jane Foster Valkyrie, Morbius Savage Avengers, Strike Force, Something Is Killing The Children

    (thanks)

Are THESE songs creepy because they were in horror films or were they always creepy?

Tip toe through the tulips (Insidious)

Goodbye horses (Silence of the lambs) : Bill's naked dance scene. I thought it was by a campy gay man, its actually a deep voiced woman....

ALSO high voiced male singers like the Stylistics...

This song by The Police which has always been thought of as about stalking:

    Creepy apocalyptic ranting?
Animals bleating, seeming for their lives?
Someone justifying blood and meat for sustenance?
The song dropping into silence, with only crickets to follow on the album for 13 minutes, before what sounds like a poem from a serial killer?

This one's a pretty solid candidate.

Into the Night - Benny Mardones

    She's just sixteen years old
    Leave her alone, they say
    Separated by fools
Who don't know what love is yet

He was 34 years old when he did this song. I love the melody of the song but the sixteen years old part is pervy.

And of course knowing what we now know about child molester Michael Jackson its difficult to hear his song PYT (Pretty Young Thing) without it being weird.

    "Tragedy", by Arcangel.

It's one of those songs that made me wonder how it got so much airplay back then.

    "Too many vultures on patrol
The advancing years gettin' out of control
And I'm ready to slip off my wire

Yes I'm ready to get into my latest desire
    Too many words carelessly spent
As if what we said was close to what we meant
And I'm hurtin' and I can't take the pain
Yes I'm certain, don't you know you drive me insane

    I'm a victim of a young girl's love
    It's such a tragedy...
(A tragedy) She's too young for my love
(A tragedy) for the things I'm thinkin' of
(A tragedy) She's the one that I need for makin' love
(A tragedy) She's too young, too young, ohh too young..."

More borderline age-inappropriate songs: "Girl, You'll Be a Woman Soon" - Neil Diamond; "Little Sister" - Elvis Presley
And ones where a schoolkid is turned on by his or her teacher: "Don't Stand So Close to Me" - Police; "Hot for Teacher" - Van Halen; "To Sir, with Love" - Lulu

For the same reasons as outlined by others I'd have to nominate Christine Sixteen by Kiss. The title says it all. I love rock music but there's an undeniably sinister lyrical undertone to some songs.

I'd normally provide a link but I'm not too keen on Kiss anyway, regardless of this track.

I totally forgot about "Christine Sixteen" by Kiss. Spot on, there.

When I was growing up, I remember hearing the song "Go Away, Little Girl" (by Steve Lawrence, I think). I'd consider it to be from my parents generation. I guess that creepiness isn't bound to any one generation.

    .............................

    "Go away little girl
    Go away little girl
I'm not supposed to be alone with you
Oh yes I know that your lips are sweet
But our lips must never meet
I belong to somebody else and I must be true.

    Please go away little girl
    Go away little girl
It's hurting me more each minute that you delay
When you are near me like this
You're much too hard to resist
So go away little girl before I beg you to stay."
