Hearing the DC & Diamond news, ya'll think Marvel will follow suit?

If they do it's Game Over for Diamond. Geppi needs the House of Ideas to stick with them now.

Well, if they see an incentive on moving away from Diamond...maybe?

I don’t see at this point why they wouldn’t.

So now Marvel eats Diamond and then DC and Marvel begin eating all the other smaller companies? I mean, IDW and Boom! are just waiting to be devoured.

    Good for DC.
Why should Marvel follow suit? They're two separate entities...they can have separate distribution companies each catering to their specific goals and needs.

It's good that the industry has more distributors available so as to break the strangle-hold monopoly...but Diamond is still important to have, just not as the ONLY distributorship.

If Marvel splits and goes to the same company DC is using then that just re-creates the same monopoly they were just getting away from.

Peter David thinks this was a stab at Marvel.

Bleedingcool has the more measured take that it may be WB wanting to bypass the direct market altogether and focus more on book shops.

LOL. PAD needs to drink some tea and rest his weary head. Marvel is not going to fall to pieces over this.

Now there might be some truth to it.

If Dc is trying to bypass the Direct market and aim for book stores-that a slap in Marvel's face.

No monthly books and only OGNs.

Marvel puts Miles & Ms marvel in trades every six months.

DC can toss out OGN Jaime Reyes and Naomi every 3-4 months. Or toss they out a day early.

If folks have to wait 3-4 months for say Batman-whose to say that same person can't wait for Peter Parker?

I could see Disney taking over both of those. They already part-own Boom, because Fox owned a share of the company. As for IDW, it's known they're not in the best of financial health, and they possess Disney, Star Wars, and Marvel licenses for all-ages comics.

Ugh. My dissatisfaction with this crash is interfering with my self-satisfaction of being proven right that the crash was coming before so many other people.

The one thing that makes me think that Marvel won't drop Diamond is the fact they've been somewhat loyal to them during this time, while DC clearly was more than eager to jump ship at the first opportunity they got. I suspect we won't know right away how Marvel will react to this. They are probably going to take a long, good look at the market for the next months, what kind of impact DC's decision will have and see what's the best option for them going forward.

Diamond will definitely have to woo Marvel right now, because losing the Big Two would certainly be a fatal blow for them.

DC is thirty percent of the market, and Diamond took out loans and still can't pay everyone back in full yet. It could be argued that DC leaving was the fatal blow.
