There came a time when the Old Gods died! The Brave died with the Cunning! The Noble perished locked in battle with unleashed Evil! It was the last day for them! An ancient era was passing in fiery holocaust!
The pre-crisis explanation for why Black Canary still looks young.
Ok so, Black Canary is a Golden Age hero from the 40's. During the Silver Age ( roughly mid-50's to about 1970), DC Comics established that the Golden Age heroes live on parallel world called Earth 2 and these heroes had aged 20yrs. Roughly around 1970-ish DC had Black Canary move to Earth-1 and join the Justice League and the cast of The Green Lantern/Green Arrow book. Now, presumably Diana would been maybe in her early 40's so it works to draw her looking like a young woman. But when we get to the late 70's/ early 80's it stops making sense as she'd have to be at least 60.
So DC's answer to this was a story that said Black Canary had a daughter who had been erased from her memory but was alive in suspended animation and the mom's mind had been transplanted into the daughter's body.
Superman having a force field instead of thick skin and being telekinetic.

Such a long winded and ridiculous change because DC was scared of "Ollies dating a milf/gilf"
There was some logic in it, even with the usual hand wavium involved in comics you cant just pick a building up with your bare hands, the whole damn thing will crumble under its own weight, so tactile telekinesis was introduced.
Heroes Reborn.
This was Marvel trying to "reboot" the universe by segregating the Avengers and the Fantastic Four to another universe so that the X-Men and Spider-Man don't steal their thunder. It was already stupid and came after the nonsensical Onslaught event, but they hired Rob Liefeld to manage it. Yeah.
Frog Thor, Spider-Ham, Bat-Mice and so on...
Really, that's not funny.
The Frog Thor storyline was awesome, and the Pet Avengers books are GREAT. Fight me!

The sad thing is the basic idea of the Wanderers series was actually pretty good. A whole team wiped out and killed and then brought back in new cloned bodies to solve their own murders could have been great if handled right. You had them all dealing with their bodies and powers being altered on top of the fact that they all knew they were actually clones and not the originals. A different writer could have done some amazing work with that premise, but for some reason the writer Doug Moench just never really got all the potential of the set up.
I think Doug was so much better with "street level" characters, but I won't blame a young writer for seeing if he could do space opera. I think this was around the time when the Legion of Superheroes was also running around in trench coats and exploring political themes in the "After the 5 year gap" era?
