    1. New authors to rewriting history: the previous Plot Line was all wrong (A Fever Dream/Alternate Universe/No Explanation Given/etc.).

    2. Damsel (or male equivalent) in Distress. Especially if it is a love interest.

    3. ____ Destroys the Universe (over and over again).

    4. My father was an alien (god, demon, whatever).

    Even worse, killing off characters just so that you can bring back. Does anyone seriously believe that big names like Superman and Captain America can remain dead for long?

    Thats even the worst thing, yes. Superman and Captain America were in the news the day they died. Good publicity getting them out in the open, but for a comic book reader its just a roll eyes moment.

    It does sell a lot of comics though, which is really the point. People have to get their limited-edition, red-chromium, holographic, plastic sealed with a trading card "Death of.." issue.
    It might be worth a fortune someday.

    All the terrible things that have been happening to the hero is, because an arch villain thought to be dead, is actually alive and has been masterminding it all.
